Two week away, trade down draft

With the uncertainty of the QB ability in this years draft, the new head coach decides to use the strength of the #1 pick in another way, by trading down....twice. This will give him many tools in reshaping the team while trying to accurately judge just what he has in Clausen. Here goes...

#1 Cincinnati Cam Newton QB

Cincy has the possibility of losing the whole fan base if Palmer, TO and 85 are not there next season. They make this move even though there are questions about the pick.

Carolina gets the #35 pick in the second round

#2 Denver Marcel Dareus DT

#3 Buffalo Blaine Gabbert QB

#4 Dallas Patrick Peterson DB

Dallas has starters at almost all positions except for DB. Instead of racking up picks as is his morm, Jerry Jones pulls the trigger to get an exciting player and possbily the best in the draft in Peterson.

Carolina gets the #40 pick in the second round

#5 Arizona Von Miller LB

#6 Cleveland AJ Green WR

#7 SF Prince Amakamura DB

#8 Tennesee Nick Fairly DT

#9 Carolina Julio Jones WR

Panthers know that very soon Steve Smith will no longer be with the team. They pick Jones because of his speed, blocking ability, toughness and readiness for the NFL after being in Nick Sabans offense.

Picks from there on:

#35 Phil Taylor DT Weak area gets exponentially stronger

#40 Danny Watkins G Very tough guy with high motor

#65 Davon House DB Marshall gone

#97 Jaquizz Rogers RB As much as we hate it, DeAngelo is gone

#132 Colin McCarthy LB Anderson gone, TD suspect knees, another U LB here

#166 Chris Hairston OT Otahs health?

#203 Terrel McClain DT Landri competition

#244 Kai Forbath K Hey, lets face it, Kasay is getting older

Sorry but I'm not trading the chance to get Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton for anything other than proven commodities. If Cincinnatti wants to trade me Carson Palmer and their 1st round pick then I'd be OK with that. But I'm not trading #1 in order to pick up an unproven WR and a NT. Trade me Palmer so I can get 5 or 6 good years out of him and then we can address QB in a later draft or I'm taking the best QB available in this draft.

WRs are a dime a dozen in the right offense and with the right QB. There is almost zero risk to taking Newton or Gabbert if the rookie salary cap is implemented. If that rule is put in place then you sign him for 5 years 20 million bucks. If he doesn't work out then you cut ties and it doesn't matter.
