NBA Playoffs Rd 1: Los Angeles Lakers vs. New Orleans Hornets

A workman like uninspiring win.

The Lakers still have yet to play a good game this series.

Fortunately with the talent on LA's roster, Artest, Odom and Bynum is plenty good enough to beat the Hornets.

Game 3 will decide this series most likely. Which team will put together a 48 minute effort? Don't see the Hornets playing another near perfect 3 turnover game as they did game 1 but who knows?

Pau Gasol, your time is here.

Interesting to note in a "MUST HAVE" game like this for the Lakers, their bigs, Bynum, Gasol, Odom, & even Artest have as many or more shot attempts than Kobe (10). The bread and butter of the Lakers is their front court.

You could argue that he shouldn't have even taken that many since Ariza was locking him down. I thought it was crazy that NO was even in the game given how outsized they are on the frontline, Okafor's foul trouble, some ridiculously bad turnovers (Willie Green) and free throw shooting. The Lakers can't coast through the rest of this series that's for sure.

Yep we really need Gasol to get his head out of his ass. Fortunately I don't think the Hornets are going to be able to contain Kobe the rest of the way like they did last night. I fully expect him to start making baskets early and continue to make them the rest of the night Friday. Should be a fun game, hopefully they can keep CP3 mostly in check like last night....

I'm kind of glad they cant coast, I think the OKC series last year really helped them in their surge to the title....

A win is a win but damn that game was sloppy Lakers struggling to put away this team that had missing key pieces. Makes me question how they'll play in later rounds should be interesting to watch. Also the non-calls for the Hornets were laughable

Gut feeling CP3 will be more aggressive in game 3 to give them any chance to have this series go the distance.

Hornets should've won game 2. They played great defense, but turnovers and missed free throws hurt them. Plus Meka and Landry got into some pretty early foul trouble. This is a physical series, and I love it. If David West was out there, I'm pretty sure he would've played enforcer to Kobe, Bynum, and Pau Pau lol. CP did his thing again last night, but he's got to turn it up a lil bit more next game. Hornets will win the next one

think they said Gasol has played over 800 games in the NBA and that was only his 21st 3! That's a weird weird stat!!!

Lake show naptime is over though. See ya New Orleans...can't see you winning any more games this season
