My guess would be they want Newton/Dareus at 1 unless they can get a crazy trade deal that would be too tempting to pass on. Trade down to snag one of the other prospects we have been looking at Green, PP7, etc. With that said I don't think a big deal will happen on day 1 and our draft choice will leak the day off the draft imo.

I swear, right now either the Skins or the Bengals (or both) are in the process of developing a massive erection for either Gabbert or Newton and the only way to be assured that they get the guy they want is to trade with us... the Bengals and Skins have a long and illustrious history of making panic-based decisions at the last minute and with the QB situation on both teams it wouldn't surprise me at all to see one of these teams make a Ricky Williams Skins/Saints style trade with us...

This would be a much more valid question if there was a CBA in effect. If there was, then you could say that the Panthers would start negotiating with Newton now if they really wanted him. Since there is no CBA, they can use that as a scapegoat to create an even LARGER smokescreen.

I would like to see us draft Newton. However if someone offers some asinine 2 1st round and a second round pick and we remain in the top 15, we have too many needs not to take it. However just to go further down in the first round and just get a second round pick out of it? That would be stupid.

Good point haha. But I really don't think they're going to do anything like that this year, it's been such a strange offseason.

The options this year are generally lousy.

Palmer's the best possible option in my opinion, but I've long considered him overrated and he may not ever actually be available.

We really did pick a lousy year to need a QB :(
