Redskins "trying like crazy' to trade up for a QB

I don't think anybody on the owners side takes the notion of there being no draft next year seriously.

They have the "at your own risk" disclaimer, but I still won't be surprised if someone accepts a future pick in trade (may or may not be us).

Maybe for a 2nd rd pick wouldn't be as much a risk, but a trade involving substantial picks like 1st rounders, not happening IMO.

It would cost the Skins a pretty penny to trade with us... hope they're dumb enough to do it (have good reason to suspect they are, LOL)

If they think they are a QB away, and don't think they'll have a high 1st next year, they might do it (sound familiar?).

Using the draft trade value chart, our # 1 is worth 3,000 points, their # 10 is worth 1,300 points, and their # 10 in the 2nd round (42nd pick overall) is worth 480 points. Straight up, that means if we gave the Redskins' our number one pick and got their 1st and 2nd, they'd owe us a value of 1,220 points in next year's 1st round, which comes in around the 12th pick. Fairly reasonable.

If I were Hurney and the Redskins put that offer out there, I'd do it and make the value from next year's draft be contingent on their draft position - if that pick's position is top 10, we get just a 1st. Less than that and we get their 1st and 2nd next year.

Because we're deferring the value til next year, we gotta collect some interest, right?!

What if they're in the playoffs and pick around 28? Then that's worth 660 points in the 1st round and 300 points in the 2nd...we'd lose...well not really, but Hurney the poker player would make such a case in such trade negotiations.

To me this would be the most ideal situation possible...we could still nab Prince or Jones (and maybe even Fairley). Remember, Rivera went to Nebraska's pro day so Prince A is definitely on the list somewhere. Then we could grab a DT in the second...OL and tight end in the third...linebacker fourth...DE 5th...man that would be nice.

Another thing to consider is the support of Moore and Clausen...I think they are doing this in case something like this happens. If they trade down then they won't pick a QB and they want the fanbase to be ok with that. Then again if they stay at one it will be Cam...and they know the fanbase will be ok with that.

I still think a trade is really unlikely. There is no guarantee there will be any rookie wage scale (yet). Although the Redskins might be the only team crazy/stupid enough to try it.

That's incorrect, as regards next year. For future picks, the value is set one round below the pick. So a first next year has the value of a second this year.

Add in the uncertainty about next year's draft and it would be an unfavorable deal for the Panthers.

With the weak talent pool this year, trading down a few spots would probably give us the same amount of talent for a heck of a lot less money.

Prince got beat alot last season and had 0 ints(sure they passed away from him right? Yes but he did not strike fear in all teams. Your first rd pick on a Richard Marshall type...not for us at this time.

Why pass up rare talents Newton, Peterson, AJ Green only to get a Fairley(late for interviews shown to be lazy on tape) or whoever?

Of course Amakumura is good but against an above average WR? see highlights below.

Yes getting the second is nice but a Marvin Austin may go late first now or real early 2nd. We still don't get the impact guy we covet...yayyy more picks for random dudes.

Why try to hit in the first Rd when we can can be mediocre with 3 extra picks.
