Redskins "trying like crazy' to trade up for a QB

Heading down home stretch to the draft

I don't know what they have to offer, but I hear the Redskins are trying like crazy to trade up to get one of the quarterbacks, Blaine Gabbert, I imagine. Some mocks have them taking quarterback Jake Locker if they stay at 10. What a reach that would be, but Mike Shanahan loves mobile quarterbacks who can throw on the run.

For the record, Marty Hurney says that he has received no calls whatsoever about trade offers, but also says it's "early yet". If the Redskins target is indeed Gabbert, but they think we're sold on Newton, this might not affect us (or it might mean that Hurney and Rivera start talking about how much they like Gabbert).

Also this interesting observation...

It's amazing how teams are worried about outside linebacker Robert Quinn's benign brain tumor that hasn't caused him a problem since his last year of high school, but you don't hear anything about it. All we're hearing, health-wise, is about defensive end Da'Quan Bowers' knee.

Quinn and Bowers are top prospects. All it takes is for one team's doctors in the top 10 to clear them, and they're home free. It's going to be interesting to see if either or both drop. They're a risk, but they could be a steal.

That is way below what we should expect to get for the pick.

I would rather not get fleeced by the Skins for the 2nd time.

The pick is worth whatever we decide it is worth to us. Those charts objectively mean poo. If we truly believe that there is some major talent in the 2nd round, it may only be worth adding a high second. If we really believe Cam (or anyone else for that matter) is going to be an all star, then it could be worth 10 first round picks.
