The best suggestion I can really give builds on Squirrel's...

Get a cheap Zirconium at Wally world for like a buck 50...

If she doesn't like it, then she is superficial... You need to nip that in the bud immediately... She needs to love you for you, and not the kind of ring you buy her...

Then, every few years tell her you're going to upgrade it... Maybe after you have been married for 3-4 years, get her a small real diamond on a gold band...

3-4 years further and get her a nice sized diamond on a white gold band with some smaller diamonds in the band...

on your 10 year anniversary, hit her with the 5K platinum bling you want to get her now...

In the long run, you'll save yourself some money and some regret should things not work out...

Sure, that is going into things with caution when you should just throw it to the wind... but you always have to look out for #1 first...

Sounds more like hedging your bets then proposing ones love

my love don't cost a thing... (JLo, lol)

especially not 5k...

love shouldn't be associated with material wealth, despite what jewelers want you to believe...

don't you know that part about a camel passing through the eye of a needle?

apply that to the love two people can have for one another...

Alright then... tell me how a 5k ring signifies anything more than a $150 ring would... Keep in mind that wedding bands for men tend to be 10x less than those for women...

Couldn't be the same reason the womens' clothing section in any store is at least double the size of the mens' section, could it?

Ability to be duped by marketing ≠ profession of love
