Volek not likely an option

I know. But, you can get that guy later in the draft. You don't need to pick #1 to get him.

But if you are picking #10 and you are so sure a QB is going to be a bust the way you guys are Newton, isn't that just as risky.

In other words, you guys seem to think we are wasting out number 1 pick. Is it better to waste a #10 pick on a QB than a #1 pick a QB? IMO if you think their is a franchise QB then you take him whether it be #1 or number #10. If you don't think he is a franchise QB you don't take him at all no matter where you are picking. Pretty simple deal.

That is why I have said since day 1, if Rivera and Hurney think Newton can be the guy they need to pull the trigger. Where we are picking and where Newton or Gabbert are rated are irrelevant.

And finding a franchise QB later in the draft is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Ok my sarcasm hour is over. Mr Scot you don't seriously believe we would win only one game if we select a qb #1 this year do you?

I didn't seriously believe we'd go 2-14 last year. Or 1-15 in 2001 for that matter.

If we blow the #1 pick, regardless of what position we draft, it's gonna hurt...a lot.

So you think Newton could bring us no more than 1 win next season. :rolleyes5:

What makes you dead certain he'll see the field even if he is the pick?

But if we sign Billy Volek we will get at least 6-7 wins right?

I can guarantee that with about as much certainty as you can guarantee that drafting Newton will get us to that.

Volek would essentially be Rodney Peete, part two. He's definitely not my favorite option, but I'd rather get a stopgap that I know I'll only have to depend on for a short time than pick a guy at number one who's I think is gonna take a roster spot for at least three years and wind up not being worth it.
