Hopefully this thread is full of his fans, and no hypocrites, because Gantt gets nothing but ridicule on this board week after week. That said, the smart man would turn down the Winthrop beat, move to a bigger and better city to find work, or join the New Media age and get on with his life.

No, why not utilize that effort to help a charity or something? A petition over a demoted newspaper writer is futile.

I'm pretty sure he's going to be moving up to the next level. The last few months his name has been mentioned by other reporters and such.

Heard Joe Person on the radio the other day. Wasn't impressed, but we'll see how he ends up.

Darin is by far the best local beat writer. You may not agree with all his perspectives, but he was always the first one in to watch practice and the last to leave. I saw this with my own eyes for the past 5 years.

This is a major loss for Panther fans. :nonod: Very few writers are as engaged with the fans as Gantt is.

I am not sure what the Herald's motivations were but I will say that from a fan's prospective this was a big loss.

Hope the best for Darin and I know that someone will jump on the chance to gobble him up. I don't expect to see a lot of coverage of Winthrop University from him before he is off for his next real beat.
