Another Cam thread, how to insure he succeeds.

Like I've been saying I think it all depends on who is on our QB depth chart if it's Clausen/Moore/Cam/Pike I could see an open competition. If this is the scenario I see Cam getting some PT as a rook. Now if we get a GOOD vet to mentor until our young QB is ready to take over like a McNabb/Palmer than I could cosign this thread 100% let him sit and learn.

it would be an open competition but Rivera ain't gonna take a QB #1 overall.......and have Clauen/Pike or Moore as the QBs in the film room and on the practice field with him all season.

Fox had a young roster b/c he was a lameduck. Rivera is gonna have some more experienced blood than Moore if goes #1 overall with a QB.

I would be... beyond astonished if Cam Newton won a true open competition in camp between himself, Moore, and Clausen. But hey, if he did, all the better. Guess we can find out if he was worth the #1 pick sooner rather than later. =P

I don't really think when he plays matters as long as he listens to the coaches and continue's to work every day at getting better.

Clausen failed to improve from week to week and from what Gantt would have you believe he stopped listening to the coaching altogether..not something a guy who wants to be the best would do.

so let him sit this season, we'd prolly suck pretty good again, have a top 10 pick, and have to watch our boy andrew luck run off to another team, and just know we're gonna stick with cam cause we're not picking 5 qbs in two years?

since i'm not on the cam wagon, i say draft d or get green, and maybe we get luck. i think it's stupid to hope for that, and play our cards for over two seasons to try and get the guy, but i personally like the idea better than drafting cam. if it happens, i'll support it, but it's not my choice...

  • 8 months later...

He also had a REALLY good year. One of the best for a rookie QB in history. I am not comparing the two in this instance I am simply stating that Ben had questions about how quickly he could transition and yet he made it very swiftly.

I am not saying that Cam would do the same, just that no one can say definitively how long it will take Cam to be ready to go.

And we also have a good running game, good O-line. good organization, and good defense.

LOL. What an idiot.

Guys enough of this we gotta get him on the field Bull poo. he is NOT sam Bradford, or Payton manning ready.

Everyone, even his fans in the media, says this kid is NOT ready for at least a year and I agree.

Do you guys just want to see the new toy on the field even if it destroys his career? Or are you wanting a full career out of this kid with great success?

We start him this year, with this team, a new HC, new staff, new systems and I will say right now with 100% certainty he will be a bust and it will be the Panthers fault, not his.

this was the funniest read in this thread by far hahahahaha
