I'm pulling for us to take Cam, but I don't have an emotional investment in it to the point that I will be mad if we take someone else like Fairley, Dareus, Peterson or Green.

I would be VERY disappointed if we took Gabbert, he sounds like Clausen 2.0 to me.

Don't think Newton - or any other quarterback - would be the right pick, but despite what some of the dimbulbs among us like to think, that doesn't equate to 'hating him'.

Have said many times that I'll get behind whoever's taken and hope that Marty Hurney made the right choice, whether I agree with it or not.

That's actually not as difficult to do as it used to be, primarily because I've had plenty of practice :(

The first pick this year is really a crapshoot. There isn't a clear cut pick at the top and you've got a handful of guys that could go there. I know the Panthers front office will be doing a ton of research on their choices and make the decision best for the team. It's no secret they are after a QB but is there one that is worthy of being picked #1? Would the Panthers feel different drafting a guy like Cam Newton if they were drafting at #15?

If he's all he's hyped up to be we either get a franchise QB or bend some team over when we trade down. It's win/win!

I just want the best player. I happen to think the best player is Cam Newton, but I will be pretty happy with anybody on the list but Peterson. I just don't think he's worth it because he's not a shutdown corner. UNC had two 2nd year players (a RS freshman and a true sophmore) who caught passes against him in one on one coverage, and one of them (Jhay Boyd) did next to nothing for the rest of the season. If he can't shut down a couple of inexperienced underclassmen, then why should I believe he can shut down the best NFL WR's?

i read that some people will wait 2-3 years before deciding whether or not cam would be good pick at number one. this seems odd to me because we have players drafted not even a year ago who are already considered gone. cam isn't even a panther yet and he has more support than OUR OWN PLAYERS.

He's already the greatest of all time, he already leads the most dangerous offense in the NFL and he's already revolutionized the postion. It's like this is the first draft people have ever followed around here.

I don't hate him. He's just not at the top of my board. Needs do not necessitate reaching imo. Especially #1 overall. I wouldn't be angry if we got him either; with Rivera so srs bsns, He'll make it happen. Plus, we won't know how good Cam really is until at least his Sophomore season.
