Peter King: Panthers doing homework on Newton

You need to get over your problem, whatever it is.

One of the best known sports columnists in the country writes about what the Panthers are doing leading up to their number 1 pick, and you don't think it is grounds for discussion in a Panthers forum?

I have now seen it all!

This same columnist was roundly dismissed on these forums when he said he didn't think we'd take him not long ago. Now he's well respected because he agrees that we're looking into Newton. Huh.

Don't take "their coaches raving about them" as anything monumental. All coaches rave about their players.

I seem to recall that the LSU coach "raved" about JaMarcus Russell before he was drafted.

Again, I am not "speculating" whether we take Cam or not. I think there is a very good chance that we do....but also a very good chance that we don't.

Just pointing out that all of the speculation by the "experts" is nothing but that.....speculation and conjecture. It is based on NOTHING but their opinion and gut feelings.

If one could come out and say that JR or Hurney said he was our likely choice, I would give credibility to it. Until then, these articles and blogs are worthless.....no matter how much the Cam Believers (switched my name for them to be more PC) want to believe they mean more.

What's terrible is that a majority of those labeled as "haters" are more so neutral parties that are simply bringing up valid concerns about Cam Newton as a draft pick.

It doesn't help that those who do want to take Cam #1 overall don't address the issues that would prevent the team from drafting him. It's mostly, "Come oooooooooon! Look at his chiseled glutes!"

King was also defended and accepted by a several when he claimed the Panthers wouldn't take Newton. I'm sure the same individuals will dismiss him now that he changed his tune. Some will probably bring up prior predictions that King had made that turned out wrong, in an attempt to dismiss him even further, rather than taking it for what it is. An opinion.

Plenty of people will point out that nobody knows what we're doing until it happens, but only a total idiot would tell you that we're not doing our homework on Newton.

hmm. Interesting tidbits from that article:

1) Newton seems like a natural leader. If his coach is telling the truth, the details of what he did are pretty impressive in such a short time being there. Even if you don't like the guy, it's worth reading the section on Blinn. While you'd expect his coach to speak positively, you can see why his coaches do speak so positively about him.

2) Newton was injured in the JUCO national championship game. Sensing a bit of a pattern here. :(

Fine. You still missed my point.

My problem was with the complaint by MH about posting the article. I have no issue with the argument pro or con Cam Newton. But people that get all offended because it was posted? That is unreasonable by any standard.

Why get offended (or have a problem with) people who disagree with you? Just ignore him if you have to. Message boards don't need pristine threads that are lovely flowers, ready to be picked by eager readers. =P

Agreed. By the time they get done with all the research they've done on all the prospects they're considering for the top pick, I wouldn't be surprised if they have enough information to write a 500 page biography on each one of them.

Plus people were pumping Peter King earlier when he said we weren't likely to take Cam Newton.

They pointed out him being ahead the curve on Andrew Luck as evidence that he did know what he was talking about. Now that he has shifted gears slightly everyone says he is speculating.

BTW he is likely speculating I am just pointing out the way our own mind shifts as the news shifts.

I am just asking a simple question.

Is is really necessary to start a new THREAD everytime someone mentions Cam Newton in the media. Because that seems to me to be what is happening.

Why not add a post to and existing thread?

Just a question.

Not sure why you feel the need to defend the post, but that's your right.

The original poster started a perfectly reasonable thread, newsworthy to the Panthers by anyone's standards. MH immediately attacks him for posting it.

I called out the post, and now you want to talk about picking flowers?
