Source: Peppers has a list of 4 teams he'd play for, 2 in the NFC South

I cannot wait to see him walk outta here. The potential for this thing to get ugly, time consuming, and cost us what nobody anywhere can envision right now is big.

Its not gonna happen. They will Tag him because that was the plan even before this year. Thats why we traded our 1st round pick. We knew we were gonna lose pep.

I boo prima donna's who give half ass effort, then bullsh*t the fans and top it all off with absurd trade demands

what I said was in jest but I'm hating Pep more and more by the day

I agree. my boo was in jest as well. I didn't think you were serious at all.

it was a little raw though. I admire your.. uh.. humor.:D

Here is a link to Gannts article:

Playing tag with Peppers could be complicated

By Darin Gantt

Updated 02/18/09 - 1:29 PM

CHARLOTTE — The Carolina Panthers haven’t yet placed the franchise tag on defensive end Julius Peppers — or signed Jordan Gross.

And while both are still expected in the next 24 hours, the Peppers half of the equation is becoming complicated.

According to sources with knowledge of his intent, Peppers has a list of just four teams to which he’s willing to accept a trade. Only one is in the AFC, and another is Dallas, which lacks a first-round pick the Panthers would be seeking in any deal. The other two are believed to be NFC South opponents, to which the Panthers would be hesitant to move their disgruntled star.

Taking Dallas' 2nd round pick (and a lower pick) this year and their 1st round next year wouldn't be a bad move IMO. It's going to be a while before the Cowboys do anything signifcant in the post-season as long as owner/gm/coach Jones is running things.

It very well may not happen. My comments stem from the point of view that I do not see us convincing too many people to pay him what they have to to get him out of here after a tag and I see that his list of destinations, his wanting to change positions, his lack of experience at that position, his age, his up and down effectiveness, and his lack of leadership abilities hampering that even further.

dallas would be a great fit for him. he'd be on a solid d, wouldn't be the main focus of attention and would have a great chance to be the defender he wants to be.

their defense would be VERY stout with him there. plus he knows jerry jones would pay him a fortune. jones will do anything to get a championship and peppers could be the piece to take them over the top.

so if he did go to dallas, what would we expect in return? tons of picks and a player (or two)? what deal could you see happening with dallas and carolina?

I do not want anything Dallas has outside of Ware. Def. nothing from the D backfield.

to the people wanting to make him play or hold out here, all that means is that we'll go through this same thing next year. except he'll have reached the magic number of 30 years old and we'll get significantly less for him via trade. nobody will give up a 1st rounder for a 30 year old player.

Dallas doesn't have a 1st rounder due to the Roy Williams trade with Detroit (you probably knew that). If the Dallas wants Pep, a decent asking price would be the Cowboys' 2nd and 4th/5th this year and their 1st rounder next year. Personally, I don't see the Cowboys doing anything significant in the postseason as long as owner/gm/coach Jones is running the show regardless of their new $800MM dollar palace. But something close to that would be better than nothing IMO.

my cube neighbor, who is a steelers fan, says it is Pitt

I wonder what Pitt would be willing to give up to get Pep? Another question is how Pep will fit in to their already great D. Would he be a DE or an OLB (already occupied by Harrison and Woodley)?

How about their 1st rounder and TE Heath Miller? :D
