Source: Peppers has a list of 4 teams he'd play for, 2 in the NFC South

What a punk! Peppers obviously needs some lessons on how the NFL works. Teams have screwed up players careers for much less by franchising them indefinitely until they are too old to lock up a big deal. The last thing a NFL team wants is to be told what they need to do with their investments aka players.

The Panthers could easily franchise Peppers, make him play, then franchise him again, then rinse and repeat. And since Peppers' Heart is not "in" it anymore, he will suck on the field. Then in a few years dump him on the free agent market and he will be at the back of line in terms of the "wish list" for other clubs.

Peppers is going out of his way to damage the Carolina Panthers and he wants a war, I'd say bring it on. In 5 years people will say, "that Peppers guy was the guy who tried to screw an NFL team, and lost", not, "That was one of the great defensive players to play the game"

According to the NFL network, the deal peppers was offered was worth 90 Million dollars.

Julius Peppers turned down $90 million from the Panthers. Should the Panthers follow the track of the Patriots, who franchised Matt Cassel with the hope of getting draft choices for him? Are we about to see financial Armageddon with Peppers, Albert Haynesworth and DeMarcus Ware? On the surface it doesn’t make sense for Peppers to turn it down but at a closer review, it does make sense if the Panthers were not willing to guarantee as much as $40 million. Here’s the math these guys are looking at: The franchise number for Peppers and Ware is around $14 million. Add 10 percent to that number for the next year’s franchising and you have $30 million in virtual guaranteed money in two years. LINK

What are you talking about? Do you honestly belive Peppers is doing this all because he wants to hurt our team? He's doing it for himself. Plain and simple, it's a buissness it happens.

Second, if we keep franchising him that keeps hurting our cap for that year. He knows that woul never happen. It would be extrmely stupid for our FO.

Bottom line is, if he REALLY doesn't want to play here that badly and we slap the franchise tag on him, he will quickly expand the list of teams he'd be willing to play for. Also, I hope there's actual legal basis for filing tampering charges against the teams on his list.

Logical.

Peppers to Dallas for TO

and the Huddle explodes.

I used to like you :cuss:

If I were the Panthers, I wouldn't rule any team out as long as the compensation is right.

i.e. Herschel Walker trade
