Source: Peppers has a list of 4 teams he'd play for, 2 in the NFC South

Why not trade him to a rival? If he's as overrated and lazy as everyone claims why wouldn't we want to saddle a rival with someone like that? Not to mention the giant cap number he'll command with a new contract. Give them cap issues and a player that only plays half the time, win win situation right?

Yea he would make around 12 - 13 million a season, but I have a feeling he would blow up next year, just to spite this organization.

Send him to Tampa, get their 1st,3rd and future 2nd and saddle them with his huge contract. The bucs wont be in the playoff anytime soon, so the panthers also get to mess with Pepp a bit.

Tampa could certainly afford it, they're something like 40 million below the cap...

You know, the only thing that really pisses me off about all of this, is that Peppers could have let the Panthers know his intentions a long time ago to give them a chance to prepare themselves. I say that because it's pretty clear to me that they fully expected him to re-sign with the Panthers when the season ended.

As much as Kris Jenkins pissed some people off by wanting out of Charlotte, he at least did right by the Panthers while the process was going on, IMO.

Peppers doesn't strike me as the revengeful type. He's said what he thinks is best for him and told the Panthers what he would like, which is his release. I haven't really heard all this "whining" that people keep mentioning. Peppers is in the business of selling himself. Teams pull cutthroat moves and posture against players all the time. Jacksonville just cut an icon of their team for cap reasons. Green Bay hinted strongly at wanting Favre to retire last year. I'm not arguing for or against these moves but teams do this stuff every year. Why are players held to a different standard and are expected to have unending loyalty to an employer that'll dump their ass on the street in the blink of an eye if it'll benefit the team?

I'm curious...what made you think they expected him to re-sign after the year was over? Honestly, they likely had a big hint that he didn't want any part of returning when they offered him that huge deal before this past year and he turned it down and with no counter offer (I think).
