I care. He's one of my favorite players of all time, a great influence and example on and off the field, and I'd be incredibly bummed if he left. With one of the worst offenses in history, we can't be letting our stars get away after only their rookie contract. Losing Smitty would make me equally bummed, but I'd understand it better (for both sides).

I'm with Kurb on this... he's just singing the free agent song. As genuinely nice as D Will seems he wants the $$$ just like everyone else does. I would hate to see him go but as we all know, this is just business.

In that article, he did not state he wants to remain a Panther. He said he'd be willing to. He said he'd like to live in Miami and he hopes the Dolphins have him at the top of their list. I'm not saying that means he definitely wants out, but there is a very obvious difference in the tone of those two statements. He could just be building up Miami's interest in order to squeeze a better contract out Hurney, or he could be stating his honest opinion. Going by what that article said, he's saying remaining a Panther is NOT what he wants but what he would accept if it came to it. I'm hoping the article misrepresented his intentions (would be a shocker). That was sarcasm, by the way.
