D-will wants a QB

Our offense would be dirty.

QB- Newton

WR- Steve Smith

WR- David Gettis

WR- Brandon LaFell

RB- DeAngelo Williams

RB- Jonathan Stewart

RB- Mike Goodson

TE- Jeremy Shockey

You know what? Fug it I'm finally sold on Newton if we stay at #1. Offense over defense at this point... go Newton or get out of the pick.

Looking at the potential and current baller status of those players on that roster makes me feel like we our a solid squad ready to compete and win.

I really think Peterson, Dareus, & Fairly (maybe) will all be great players and possibly leaders, but the D was solid last year bottom line even with a mediocre line. Our own defensive leader Beason said he wants a QB with the number one pick over a d-player. Now...DeAngelo, our most explosive offensive player says this, additionally our coaches have expressed this need countless times.

When I think about it and begin to visualize what we'd be like with Newton, I can totally see our players interacting and meshing together really really well with him for some reason.

One thing I really do value is swagger and Cam definitely has it on top of his athletic ability. JaWalrus didn't have it and never really carried LSU's offense imo, it was more of the system. Sometimes Newton can take it a step further and it gets at the ego, but he's growing and I'm hopeful he understands what he needs to do to excel. We all make mistakes in our youth. Get Cam or get out of number 1.

Also, I'm trying not to forget we are already better because of our new offensive minds in control and we got a hopefully uninjured solid vet in Shockey. That roster could be really really solid for 2-3 years and potentially beyond (minus the older guys).

That article didn't quote him saying anything about a QB, it said that he made that comment about whichever team is better at QB. That leaves it open to interpretation and they could have twisted his words or misrepresented what he was saying. I read that same thing and it made me think more like we're going after Newton (or Gabbert if they think he's better....) but when I went back to double check it for this post I can't find the comment in the article. I listened to the interview and he said (and I paraphrase) 'it all comes down to who makes the conscious effort to getting that championship caliber QB'. He could have been talking about his decision about who he signs with, or he could have been talking about what it takes to be successful in the NFL. He wasn't exactly clear. With that said, we can all agree that Henne and Clausen both aren't championship caliber QBs and the Panthers are in better position to get that championship caliber QB this year. If we get Newton (or Gabbert), and Deangelo WAS saying his decision is going to be heavily influenced by the situation at QB, you have to believe that he'll stay in Carolina.

I found the thread on Facebook and here are his answers to the questions as to if he's going to stay in Carolina...

"I do want to be in Carolina next yr"

" If Carolina make me an offer yes would love to stay here being that I already have a house here in Charlotte"

This is the one that worries me...and not just because of the grammatical errors..

"And once Free agency hit yes I will test the market but if Carolina want me and show me they want me them"

So there. Now you all can dissect HIS words for what they're worth and read between the lines.

Yes "showing" may mean money, but the interview statements lead to QB. Combination of both (money and a teams commitment to a quality QB) is the "X" factor...

    • Heels let another team go up 20 on them but this time they complete the comeback. HD never seems to have his team ready but he makes great halftime adjustments. Powell played the majority of the second half and his defense was the difference along with his big three pointer to give the Heels the lead for good. Trimble and Davis were also spectacular. Carolina can’t let Auburn get out to a 20 point lead though, they won’t be able to come back from that.
    • I don't think there is much of a chance we go wr in the first round.  If Young continues to play fairly well, our choice will likely dl, lb, or maybe a slight chance at ol.
