I do not want Newton, Do you?

...I simply do not see this problem with Cam Newton. I know some do, but I don't know why. I noticed in the Gruden QB school clip he sees a clip of Peyton Manning and immediately starts talking about how much films he watches and how he's going to have to do the same to be great. He gets the amount of work that goes into it. Not to mention he's a LOT more intelligent than Russell & Vince Young, who is another favorite comparison.

Too many people are "In Love" with the Ryans, Staffords and Bradfords quarterback that come into the league and start right away. Look at history. Steve Young, Brett Farve and many others did not start when they came into the league yet are HOFers (or soon to be) QBs like Petyon Manning and Troy Aikman who did start from the getgo were terrible their 1st season.

You cannot pass on a talent like this. If Luck were coming out there would be an argument of whether to take Luck or Newton. And a brutal decision at that.

I initially wasn't sold on Newton. But his drive to be the best is what sold me. Unlike Russell who thought the NFL was gonna be just another GRAPE DRANK, Newton is determined to study and learn to be not just Good but Great. You have a talent like that can check his ego and really learn from experienced coaches, tape and hard work on the practice field. How can you pass on it? To me this is a no brainer.

Is it possible that he is a bust. Sure is, but so are the other 200+ plus college players out there ready to be a PRO FOOTBALL PLAYER.

Stop looking for a QB to come in and start right away. We have Moore and Clausen to fill those shoes until Cam is ready. Focus your thoughts on 2012 or even 2013 and a run of 10 yrs or so of greatness.

We pass on Newton, our decision will come back and haunt us. I can't guarantee it but I have a bad feeling about passing up on Cam Newton.

Pull the Trigger. Draft Newton.

It's crazy people throw VY in there as a negative comparison to Cam when Vince has shown he can be a winner at the pro level. Certainly better than our current QB's by far. And I don't even like that comparison for Cam except that I could see him having some success early on ala Young because they both have that quality to just find ways to win.

Vince Young is a winner? If we draft Newton, his potential better be far higher than Young's.

Vince Young hasn't won games for the Titans? VY does what Matt Ryan does in the W/L column.

Bruh I even said I don't like the VY comparison because Cam is by far a better passer than VY at this point and time. All I am saying is that if he has a VY like season as a rookie that's promising for the future. So stop using VY as a negative when he has shown he can win games at the pro level.

I've already answered this. Cam Newton probably runs the ball more than all those guys combined in a season.

If you count designed running plays you are definitely correct. If you are saying he runs more than those guys on passing plays it is really close and if he does run more it isn't by much.

I give up. You just can not talk sense to idiots so why bother??

Go ahead and draft the great Cam Newton and see where it gets us.

We will be drafting #1 again next year and Luck will be there but not

for us because we will have Big Headed Cam as our leader. Sheesh idiots.

Here we go again  IF Luck wanted to be here he would have came out this year. He snubbed the Panthers. Your coming off as some kind of ex-girlfriend stalker, he doesn't want you!

An idiot would think that Luck wouldn't pull an Eli Manning if the Panthers pick #1 next year and Rivera will not let that happen either. There are other fish in the sea and we have #1 this year and maybe not again for a very long time.

His decision was unrelated to us picking #1. He may not have had any particular interest in being a Panther but he certainly wasn't trying to avoid the team, either.

What evidence do you have that he "snubbed" us?

He'd said all along, "I want to finish my degree" and "I want to graduate with my teammates." He was intending to do this all along, but we ALMOST enticed him to come out.

He just didn't turn us down, he turned the entire NFL down.

Panthers beat writer Darin Gantt doesn't buy into the Cam Newton/JaMarcus Russell comparisons.Gantt says that besides skin color and an SEC lineage Newton and Russell have nothing in common, and he's absolutely correct. Russell never really came close to winning a national title, while fitness never appeared to be one of his concerns. Newton blows Russell out of the water as a worker, and is much more skilled all around.

Since you ask this every day, what besides skin color and SEC do he and Cam have in common? RT @esserville Do you remember Jamarcus Russell?

I really, really dislike rotoworld. Why can't they just publish tweets, instead of making it sound like he's giving some interview on it? lol

Anyway, Gantt is wrong, they have more than being black and playing in the SEC in common. They both wore #2. They are also guys with big arms and tremendous upside. ;)
