My German Shepherd is an inside dog so she doesn't really smell, so she's usually in the bed between me and my wife. Mostly though she gets hot fast and just lays in the floor at the bedroom door. My cats are out when we are downstairs etc, but at night/not home they have their own room/laundry room they chill in.

At first we didn't want her on the furniture, but she looks so comfortable on her chair it's really hard to say no.
