My dog -- a shiba inu -- sleeps on the den couch or in a den chair. She doesn't leave the den/kitchen area of the house (we have a baby gate/door that keep her there). My cat sleeps in my bed, and fusses at me when I first get in it, wanting me to move from "her" spot. We reach a compromise, when I refuse to move and tell her to lay down next to me. I listen to her wailing for only a minute or two before that happens.

When my dogs were puppies they would sleep in bed with us but now they are pretty big so one of them sleeps near the foot of the bed sometimes but prefers to sleep in the hallway, guarding the door and the other one tries to sleep in the bed but he's too big so I have to constantly tell him to get down.

The minute I hop out of bed and get into the shower, they are fighting over the pillow in my spot.

Like someone else said, they are family and can go wherever and do whatever they please. I constantly remind guests that my dogs live there and they do not

When I got my first dog I put her in the bathroom at night because my cats slept with me. Then when I got a house and a second dog, they started sleeping with me and I have no idea where the cats sleep. Every time one of them even tries to enter the bedroom the dogs go tearing after them.
