Another year of the Double M and Pickles

Clausen was the most nfl ready guy and The Golden Calf of Bristol showed something as a rookie unlike Clausen.

Says who?

Kiper?

Not everyone agreed on Clausen and that's why he fell so far, scouts realized he was poop, Hurney and Kiper didn't. Who was right?

The Golden Calf of Bristol went ahead of Clausen because he was a better football player and it showed.

It's easy to say that now after his sub par rookie season but my guess would be he fell because of the attitude concerns/ESPN gruden segment...I remember reading/hearing that he was regarded as the most NFL ready QB mainly because of the offense he ran at ND you didn't hear the same?

Not to mention his pro day where all I heard was how he was so impressive and could make all the NFL throws etc.

Says who?

Not the Broncos. Not every other team besides the Panthers

you are just talking nonsense.

Everyone and their momma said The Golden Calf of Bristol was just raw talent/potential and might not even be a traditional QB at the next level.......everyone said Clausen was more NFL ready and had a better skill set for the next level as a QB. Broncos drafting The Golden Calf of Bristol isn't a statement that argues that.

When the two played, The Golden Calf of Bristol could handle his own.....and Clausen looked like he never touched a football before.

I hear a lot of sh*t all the time, doesn't mean it's true. You have to consider the sources. A LOT of people were questioning Clausen. He's been a pure hype machine since he was in HS.

The Golden Calf of Bristol went twice as high as Clausen. You don't drop that far based on attitude, you do it on lack of NFL skill, especially when so many teams passing on you needed a QB.

I know this thread is dead and no one will read this but I always say in a thread like this that I think Matt Moore could have done really well this past year with a team basically like the one at the end of 2009. The team in 2010 was too different than that team. I like Matt Moore. I think he could be a good qb, maybe a starter but definitelly a great back up. I will cheer wildly for whatever qb is under center for the panthers this year IF we have football!

At least Rivera seems to recognize the fact that at some point we are going to have to get a franchise QB to compete in the league, much less the division. But Richardson and Hurney could turn Rivera's words into pure rhetoric.

I agree 100% with Rivera that we MUST get a true franchise QB.

That doesn't mean we have to get one in this particular draft.

Is there one in this particular draft? There was last year, there could be one next year, but there sure isn't a clear cut franchise QB in this draft. I guess Gabbert could be the closest thing there is but he's no Sam Bradford/Matt Ryan. He could be a Joe Flacco though.... remains to be seen.

Jesus folks. You do realize MM could be much better than he has shown? We all agree Fox etal were morons right? Ok then with better coaching our QB's will improve somewhat right? the system its self will improve = better offensive play.

Look trade down, gather up a ton of picks and stock this team with talent overall. Take a QB to develop next year or the year after.

the only thing that can set this franchise back is reaching for a position esp QB.

HF, I don't understand why people would say this about this year's draft. Everyone knows that there is not a consensus #1 pick that stands out and will save franchises (much like what Luck was purported to be). Moreover, the positions where we truly have need can be satisfactorily filled with a lower round (<1), or a vet, which may turn out to be at least equal to round 1 options. A pick like Green or PP would be great, but it's not something that we just have to have in light of what we already have, so I just don't see that setting us back. Stockpiling picks? With this draft? How in the hell are we going to get enough value to stockpile anything? Really? All this being said, I don't see how our #1 draft pick will be a reach. It will be more like a luxury pick because, as luck would have it (pun not intended), our specific situation and this specific draft class (as well as free agents who will become available) doesn't lend itself to a profound loss. In other words, we have little to lose, and much more to gain, so it just may be time to roll the dice on a high profile player, esp. at QB.

Like it or not, that may mean Newton. Worse come to worse, we suck. Then we go get Luck in 2012.

starting matt moore or JC

why not just beg for mediocrity outright?

Do you realistically believe that we are going to reach the level of mediocrity next season without an act of God at the QB position? Fug, man, I am hoping that we can at least be mediocre this coming season.
