Gabbert compared to 1st round QB's

Recommended Posts

What'd you think of this video, Tee?

Not a big fan of the guy. He analyzed a video of Gabbert from last year... which amused me because Gabbert worked quite a bit on some of the issues he talked about, hehe.

He's not a fan of either QB.

Also seems like Dr. Yessis is pro Gabbert since he has a 6 and 1/2 minute video of Gabbert and his pros and cons but all he has for newton is and 2 and 1/2 minute video of how newton is going to get injured because of his motion. If his motion was such a concern for injury don't you think it would have happened at some point in college?

pretty sure that's only part of his Newton writeup, but I don't have premium access to his website to tell. =P

also no, he didn't throw many passes in college at all. He could easily have avoided injury with the amount of throwing he did. Still, he's working hard to tighten up a lot about his passing game, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I am going to make the mistake of commenting on the video before I have seen it. But if he has a problem with Cam's throwing motion it is bullpoo.

Everything upstairs is really good. He lets his arm get to far away from his body sometimes on his release, he doesn't get his shoulders square when he is supposed to sometimes, and that is about it. But the ball starts high, finishes high, and comes off the finger tips beautifully.

Downstairs is where he has a lot of work to do. It isn't just dropping back from center. Weight distribution, getting your feet squared, etc. all need work. i think they are easier fixes than the upstairs part of a throwing motion.

But I haven't watched the video yet.

THIS...I'll admit what is floating around on YouTube of Gabbert isn't great but it's not much. Everyone watched newton last year but very few watched gabbert. Newton has a great arm and decent accuracy but to me Gabbert may be the safer pick and also may have a longer shelf life.

i agree, Gabbert is more safe while Newton is more high reward, BUT high risk. he could either boom and take us to the playoffs or bust and get us a very high pick in 2012. Gabbert KINDA reminds me of Bradford because of his offense he came from and because of the big 12, but he does have good cons including the stats in college.

You know you make a really good post that is thoughtful and insightful... then ruin it by equating Gabbert to Bradford.

I know, i know you said kinda :)
