Our best potential trading partner?

They can trade next year's picks, "at their own risk." Mortenson initially said they could not, then he corrected his comment. Probably the source of the confusion.

Having said that, any deal I did would include a 2012 first rounder. That way you have 2 first rounders for next year that can be combined to move up should we still need a QB. Kinda like insurance.

I think Cincinnati, Tennessee, and Washington.

By the way: Buffalo wants Newton They are all over him. First, they downplayed the QB need after his visit/workout and they sang Gabbert's praises, comparing him to Newton. Here is why the need Newton:

He would sell tickets and keep the team in Buffalo and not Toronto or LA. His style fits their offense. He has Jim Kelly charisma.

I am not sure the Bills would give up a second rounder for him, which is a huge mistake if you ask me.

no team is going to move all the way from 10th to 1st... the 10th pick is only worth 1200 points and the first is worth 3000 even a second is only worth 500. what i am trying to say is it would cost them too much

They can offer the 2012 first and second rounders, first and second in 2011.

Buffalo does not have to spend much to bring in a face that will sell tickets. A second rounder is giving them a good deal and the Panthers would take it. Cam, like The Golden Calf of Bristol, is the biggest college celebrity in the draft and he would sell tickets, jerseys, etc. Keep the bills in town-getting Buffalo out of the recession with a team not in LA makes him worth the pick.

If they do not trade, there is not guarantee they will get either QB. If we took Cam, bet money Denver's phone rings off the hook.

Next, you have Cincinnati who will not have a QB come August. With the liklihood of no free agency, they might have to jump now. However, name a top free agent QB who would want to come to Cincinnati......They need a good one in the draft. Newton is on their radar, however the Bengals have only traded in the first round 3 times since 1991.

Arizona is being quiet. They have many needs and seem to like Skelton's future. They are looking veteran, but the threat of a prolonged holdout and their dislike of Newton could cause them to reach for Gabbert.

San Francisco is a possible partner. I do not see them trading up, however. They will take a QB in the second round, a Ponder or Dalton.

Tennessee is in a BAD draft spot. DO they trade down and go with a project, considering Collins is an UFA and 38 years old? They really liked Vince Young and how he opened up the run game before the demons showed up. I think they will make an offer to the Panthers that involves a 2012 first rounder. I think they really like Newton. If not, expect them to wait for a Locker or Kaepernick in the second round.

Dallas--DO not rule out the COWBOYS as a potential suitor. Jones likes the Cam swagger and the team is starting to question Romo. They want Newton in big D. Jerry would gladly part with a first in 2012 and give his #9 and second rounder for Cam.

Washington is probably as low as we would go, deciding that the first and possibly the second in 2012, and the first and second this year are well worth it. They would draft Julio Jones or a fallen Nick Fairley, and get three top picks in their change.

Since trading with anyone below ARIZ could include a second this year and first next year, you always have the 2012 picks to move up for a Landry Jones or possibly Luck if you need to in 2012. You get a good player in 2011 and a second rounder in 2011. It is the thing to do.

If we want a 2nd rounder back, I think it could cost more than a first swap from our standpoint given the strong yet somewhat equal amt. of talent in the top 5-7 of the draft.

This is why I think if we either try to swap with Buffalo or Cincy, it could be coupled with another 3rd rounder (a 2nd rounder may not be manageable with them) but we'd still getting our choice of Green or Peterson which is awesome.

I would bite if we do get a 2nd back with either Buffalo or Cincy, but if not....way too much talent will be missed beyond pick 6-7. It all depends on compensation if we execute a trade and additionally, this draft class does not help us if we're trying to trade out of the top 7.

Considering the teams towards the tail end of the first, it would be very hard to trade that far down.
