Judge Nelson to rule in couple weeks

Recommended Posts

If you would get your lips off the players collective asses you would see the NFL / Owners are 100% correct and have a very legitimate complaint. If this judge does the legal and right thing she will rule for the owners.

the courts have consistently ruled against the NFL any time something like this has come up. Right now they players are filing for an injunction (you know what that means right) to end the lockout because they can prove they are losing money, and that they were locked out by the entire league, not individual teams.

this means that the nfl is a what?

the NFLPA had no intention at all of negotiating. D smith and the players want a completely different league and they aren't going to get one.

this is the dumbest thing you've written yet

What you fail to understand is the NFL/Owners can sit for YEARS on this, the players can't.

not ones with outstanding liabilities on new stadiums

One problem with the argument that the NFL is a monopoly is the fact that they are not. The players do have options to continue to play football in the U.S. Not in the NFL but in alternative associations. The monopoly theory can be killed with thorough analysis. Think...There is a reason why the NFL encouraged other venues to develop outside the NFL shield.

Oh I understand completely, you are the one in fantasy land. Either way the players will end up losing.

You know what would end all of this? Split back up to the NFL/AFL :-) now there are two so no monopoly and both leagues would make a ton of money. now the players would be truly fuged as anti trust rules no longer apply to a non monopoly and the owners can put into place whatever labor rules they want :D

unfortunately realisticfan every single court ruling disagrees with you.

Contracts will and can be honored if the NFL is forced to abide by the law. Still the fact is that football can be played without the NFL. Before the NFL there were alternatives as there are now. Do you disagree?

they weren't given an anti-trust exemption because they aren't a monopoly.

i mean please don't pull this "well they could go play arena football so it's not really a monopoly" bullshit.

no court takes that seriously, no intelligent purpose argues it seriously, and it's tired as hell.

Then you understand that it is NOT a monopoly. If there are alternatives then it is NOT a monopoly.

It is on fact to be considered monopolistic competition, which is different than a monopoly.
