Report: Richardson “not sold” on Cam Newton, but will likely defer decision

No he didn't you guys are pulling a hugger move as translating what he said to what you want to hear. He said, "I don't see us trading down in this particular case." That can mean a lot of things but you guys say "see he talk abouta da Luck!!!1 (I don't know why I made you Italian there )" Find me one report where a quote is attributed to Richardson saying we were taking Luck. An actual cited quote from a legit reporter.

How about this, for example?

Casserly: Jerry Richardson called Andrew Luck (link)

We already thought we knew why Andrew Luck wanted to return to Stanford for his red shirt junior year: he wants to stay together one more season with his recruiting class, he wants to finish his degree and, presumably, he wants to try to win a national title.

But Panthers owner Jerry Richardson wanted to make sure there wasn’t another (more nefarious) reason. According to CBS’ own Charlie Casserly on The NFL Today, Richardson called Luck to determine if one reason he wasn’t entering the NFL Draft was because Carolina will get the No. 1 pick.

Reported Casserly: “He was told unequivocally no."

Now, if he wasn't the chosen pick, why exactly is he calling him again?

He called him at the press conference?

I never said he wasn't our pick. My point is that the logic you have for saying that Luck was the pick doesn't seem to apply when you use the same logic for Cam.

We have 3 dinners 3 workouts and have him sit down with the big boss and it is a smoke screen. When sources say it might be Luck it was a slam dunk, now if sources say we are leaning toward Cam it is speculative, saying that Clausen and Moore aren't that bad just a victim of bad coaching and still deserve a chance didn't matter when Luck was a possibility.

The stupid logic to convince yourselves that the Panthers aren't really interested apparently doesn't apply three months ago. Just now when you sh#t you pants that we may actually draft Cam.

We're scouting - and interviewing - all the picks. If we were only scouting and meeting with Newton, then it'd be clear, but we're not.

And sorry, some here may not want to accept it, but Newton is not in Luck's class. Nobody in this draft is.
