Report: Richardson “not sold” on Cam Newton, but will likely defer decision

No. I don't draft a QB because I don't think the ones available are worth the #1 pick, but there are players at other positions who are (or who are at least closer to it).

I understand but I have seen posters (not saying you) saying that we should go defense this year in order to get Luck next year. That is not guaranteed

yep, the FO knows we are a couple of years out from being a contender so why not fix the defense up and next year have a shot at a stud instead of settling on a project

I disagree with this logic... I think we can win now if we draft the best players for our needs...

Cam Newton is like number 4 or 5 on that list for me though...

Oh if they get offered a great deal we may trade down. It will include the other teams first round pick this year and next year I gurantee it. Who in this draft is worth two 1st round draft picks. If yoi guys can answer that then you will see how much interest there is in other teams in trading to the top.

And honestly I don't think Richardson was even thinking about Luck when he made that comment. And Luck being the greatest ever has come about since he decided to go back to school. He hasn't gone through all the scrutiny of being picked apart in the draft process yet.

All the Haters who love KC Joyner bc of his critical examination of Cam Newton thinks there's a chance Luck isn't even the best QB in his conference!!

So I don't think it was said with Luck in mind. The only people more dillusional than nut huggers are the luck huggers.

watch the conference... he was asked about Luck specifically and said he would be the guy we picked...

as far as a prospects value to teams who want them, any number of players could be more valuable to certain teams than others... one could be so enamored with AJ Green that they'd want to do whatever it took to get him... Cam Newton is not the only player someone would trade up for, if that is what you are trying to say...

??

Just because I want Dareus or Green does not equate me with holding out for Luck next year... I still have enough confidence in players that ALREADY WEAR PANTHERS UNIFORMS more than I do some phenom rookie QB... Clausen showed a lot of people what throwing a rookie into such a fire could look like... I'm willing to give him a fair shot, as well as Matt Moore, before I anoint anyone the Panthers savior at QB...

Could we get Luck next year? Sure we could.

Do you count on it and make plans based on that? Lord no :nonod:

Now, you can look at next year's QB crop in general and, judging it to be deeper, factor that into your decision. But you can't pin your hopes on a specific player. That's a recipe for disaster.
