Panthers lay off 20 employees

I wonder how they feel about Gross making $9 million a year?

Speaking as someone who was laid off last year due to the economy, (but found another and better gig), they should think that Jordan Gross performed a job and got paid for it. Professional athletes get way too much money, (given), but for what they do and the fact that it can end on every single play, there is some justification for it. We condone it by spending the money we do on the team. Unfortunately, probably a good portion of them don't have the skills to get a comparable job and will have to take what they can get in a poor economy...

I really don't believe that argument that it can end on any play applies anymore, because all these new contracts include a butt load of guaranteed money.

sh*t, if somebody would pay me just $1 million dollars I would never work again and be happy about it.

Well you could be right, but you're not thinking as a professional athlete right now are you?... ;)

A million sounds good before paying an agent, paying taxes, etc. Of course, 9 million is a totally different story, isn't it?...

You're right, I will never think like a professional athlete. I do know plenty of people that have health problems and physical disabilities from their jobs though, in fact, I'm one of them. And I promise you that disability insurance won't pay any of us $1 million dollars in our entire lifetime, much less $9-10 million guaranteed for the first year.

Exactly, good luck with yours my friend...
