Not to mention JR and Hurney both acknowledged you couldn't do this anymore. You had to have a franchise QB. And they announced having a franchise QB is a priority. And Rivera talked about it in the hiring process.

Having said all that I have been tampering some of this Newton stuff all day bc it seems that the media are in an echo chamber and all the chatter might be much ado about nothing.

How would a rival NFL executive know what Hurney is thinking, unless Hurney told him?

I'm still skeptical about Hurney pulling the trigger on Cam, but that's some pretty flimsy evidence Nawrocki is putting out there.

They're speculating based off what they know of him.

:rolleyes5: another reporter/article just spewing out talking pts. I can see somebody saying "no" to Cam due to he wont be a franchise guy, etc BUT I skipped reading the article when the first post had a quote that included this:

Marty does not like taking quarterbacks in the first round out of principle — there is too much boom or bust. Look at his history — he has been there (nine) years, he has never had a great (quarterback), and he has never done it."

Well HELLOOOO.... no sh*t, the above reason is why this Franchise has fallen so fast/so far, and it has been obvious for all of us who actually know the franchise and been paying attention that the above philosphy has changed. Obviously passing on every single QB in the 1st round for postion players has and is not working for the Panthers, Marty has admitted that to some level himself and its clearly be said they have learned from that mistake.
