Not saying that Newton will not be the pick.

However, this thread and comment by Clayton is no more "concrete" than any other mere speculation out there.

Clayton is wrong more than he is right.

This is ONLY his opinion.

So which analyst do you believe? They all seem to be wrong right about now

I don't believe ANY of the analysts. They are all just guessing at what they "think" the pick will be. This is what they do for a living.

Cam could very well be the pick.

But, until one of them can say that Hurney/Rivera/Richardson told them we are picking Cam.....they are doing nothing but speculating.

Remember, the best analysts out there are only right about 1/3 of the time when it comes to predicting the draft.

Mayock > all other analyst and he has Cam as #2 QB. He is the only one worth putting stock into what he writes.

Mayock typically rates the top 5 at each position. He doesn't do frequent mock drafts. He knows like we do that the best guy at a position is not necessarily drafted first and the best guy in the total draft could be drafted well below a guy who is rated lower but fits a team's needs. He might still have Gabbert rated as his best quarterback but he isn't saying that he will be drafted before Newton for example. From what I can see, if we do go quarterback it will be Newton not Gabbert. Apparently what we think we need is more of Newton's skill set than Gabbert's.

He may turn out to be right, but taking what Clayton says as actual evidence of something is misguided.

Speculation is still just that.

The thing that bothers me about the Cam supporters is the fact that they do not want to see Clausen come around in any way. They want him gone. They are all experts and KNOW that CAM will be great, even though most experts call him high risk/reward.

I think of all of the current panthers who kinda sucked as rookies who came around later: Kalil, Anderson, Goodson, Gross, Wharton, Schwartz, D Williams (sorta), Godfrey, Martin, etc. They all had rough beginnings.

Not wanting a player on the roster with 3 years left on his contract to improve and turn it around is crazy. I have to think you care more about being wrong than the Panthers's success.

Personally, I hope he gives Cam all he can handle. I hope we have a Vick/Kolb thing here. Give up on a rookie QB playing in this mess after about 5 games. Crazy
