why? i enjoyed working on mine almost as much as riding it. I did all my fluid changes, spark plugs, brake pads, and never paid a tire man to remove the rim from the bike. I also wrecked it once and replaced nearly everything i messed up including the upper fairing and gas tank.

harley riders say, "What do a divorce and a harley have in common? They are worth the money."

I hope to never get divorced either.

I hear you. Owning a Harley is not for everyone. I can respect that. A Harley is a vehicle, not a toy. If I wanted a toy I would have bought a GSXR1000. Which I love by the way, and hope to own one day. I am a motorcycle fan. I love all bikes for what they are. I chose to buy this bike because it was kind of a cross between a traditional Harley and a Sports bike. I was told so many times that Vrods are "bullet Proof". That is the word used by several different people at different times. I guess a spring inside the transmission breaking has nothing to do with a bike being shot at. lol

I never have had the patience for it. I like to take stuff apart, but I don't like to put it back together. For something like a bike, and most of mine have been the high speed version, sometimes leaving out one little part is the difference between life and death!!!

I usually do all of that also, but when it comes to actually pulling the motor apart, I am going to have leave that to the experts. I would hate to get done, and have a box full of parts left. lol We have a shop we can do most of the minnor stuff to all the bikes, but no one is brave enough to experiment on mine.

You're right about the toy part. I had 3 CBRs(6,9 & 954) and they are not really commuters. Thats why I no longer have one. I'm no where near the joys of the mountains or even the piedmont.

my last one was incomplete, but nothing major. like i lost a fairing fastener, the plastic rivets that hold one to the other were broken or missing in quite a few places, and other mainly cosmetic stuff that didn't cause any concern for me. the important stuff I followed the hanes service manual 100%. torque specs especially. i have no idea what good that torque wrench is now.

if you are dead set on keeping the bike maybe sell the jeep to fix it, and then get gear to ride it all the time.

I do ride the bike all the time. My fiancee drives the Jeep. The bike is my transportation. We will be car pooling for a while I guess. We used to work about 2 blocks from each other, so it was never a big deal. If the weather was really bad, then we just rode together.

Are you taking it to the HD dealership? Wish you lived closer. We have a friend that left HD to open his own shop. He's half the price of HD.

Where are you? I have a trailer, and I may be willing to take it if the price is right. Most of the guys around here will not mess with Vrods.

Wilson, NC. The shop is 8 ball's cycle works. Scott Talbot is the owner. Very close friend - my brother's best friend.

And keeping with the topic of this thread, I can top all y'all. :(
