Japan jokes

Mtn Dew all over my screen...thanks!

You hadn't heard that? AFLAC fired him the next day after he tweeted that joke. AFLAC is one of the largest insurers in Japan so they had a product to protect. I guess that's why the newest commercial is a silent commercial....

There was a Christopher Reeve joke the week after he was paralyzed, and OJ jokes all over the place.

I'm not defending tasteless jokes. I am just asking why they are so arbitrary. I mean, I laughed at the Gottfried joke when I heard it, probably because of the company I was in, but I would never tell it to a girl. Even in this thread, a couple of people have laughed and a couple of people have been horrified.

everyone deals with tragedy in their own way...never too soon, never tasteless, especially if you've already been warned!

Go hang out with some paramedics or some cops...they'll tell some jokes that will make you cringe.

I work with a guy that is a full-time firefighter / part-time HVAC.

He told me he was trying to perform CPR on a lady that wasnt responding. She had apparently ate Ramen noodles right before being unresponsive. On his first chest compression, Ramen noodle spewed out of her mouth like a chia pet. He said he hadnt smelled anything as awful as that. He cant stomach the thought of Ramen noodles anymore. Needless to say they couldnt save her.

Not really a joke, but along the lines I guess.

During the campaign in Northwest Europe in 1944 a German and British officer met under a flag of truce to allow the wounded to be tended to. They both noticed aircraft flying high overhead. The British officer turned to the German and said "you know whenever we see German aircraft we run run for cover." Then the German said "yes, and when we Germans see British planes we run for cover too." They both looked at each other a moment and then blurted out at the same time,"and when we see American aircraft everybody runs for cover."

too soon?

This. Cops will blow you away with their sick jokes. Im sure paramedics are the same way. Gallows humor. Helps them deal with the tragedy they see every day.
