Scott Wright's scouting report on Cam Newton

Seems to me that they are best served talkinng about whether they are a first round talent versus a 3 round talent. And they draft profiles can shed some information about how they are being evaluated. But to predict a mock draft with any accuracy, 33% accuracy in most other professional endeavors would be terrible not enviable.

In baseball you would first ballott hall of famer though.

Just makes me laugh. Cams weaknesses are leadership, intelligence, work ethic, instincts, and struggles with the deep ball? Yet none of these are a weakness for Gabbert? What I am missing. How is Cams leadership in question? He only "lead" 2 teams to championships on two different levels. Honestly Cam and Gabbert are equals as prospects imo just Cam seems to have a greater potential.

The fact that the teams won the national championships does not really indicate that he has great leadership skills. Just that the talent on those teams were good enough to win.

To evaluate his leadership skills, you really have to get to know the guy and talk to team mates, coaches, teachers, friends, etc... That tells the story.

The whole "icon" thing has me a little nervous. The great QB's in this league are the film room rats that are committed to doing the little things that make a big difference. Saying that you are an entertainer and an icon tells me that "might" be wrapped up in the whole rock-star mentality of being an NFL player. That often is a recipe for disaster.

It really depends on how you score a mock draft. Matching a team with a player with 33% accuracy in the first round is pretty good I think. No sense in comparing the accuracy with other fields. A batting average of .300 is great - that works out to "hitting" 30% of the time.
