Brady vs NFL- what you need to know

Recommended Posts

Why would they act against the salary cap? That plays in the league's favor and the only reason for wanting anything different is greed.

The draft is good for the league too.

But minus the draft and salary cap, they get more freedom and (in theory) more money.

They're not concerned with "the good of the league".

I think we have seen the end of the salary cap era if the players gain the advantage in this process. The draft might be gone too but that would be the owners getting rid of it as a means to controlling the money going to first year players in a non-cap era.

I think the old saying, be careful what you wish for, is very appropriate for the players. Or at least the players not named Brady, Manning or Bress.

This is a leverage law suit. The players know that there will be a salary cap, and they are all for the draft. However, if there is no union, then these things violate anti-trust laws (it's how they won last time). They don't want to win the case, they want to pressure the owners into negotiating with the brady lawyer team.

Very informative read about the all important April 6th court date which pits the owners against the players to get a CBA done.

Long read, but very good and very helpful.

I wish fans would finally understand the NFLPA aka current players don't give a poo about the league or any former players. All they care about is destroying the fact they are employees and the owners are their employers and they want all the money they can get right now.

They want to do away with salary caps, salary restrictions, the draft as players are 'forced' (aka slavery....) to go to bad teams initially. They want to destroy the NFL as it is.

The bitch of it is, Jerry Jones, Bob Kraft, Daniel Snider and a couple more want the same thing! They have all the money and they don't want restrictions. Jerry Jones wants to have the best team money can buy every year. You guys think he wants that stadium empty? Those clowns would be just fine with 5-6 teams fighting it out every year, fug everyone else.

My personal wish is the majority of NFL owners fold up shop completely and form a new business under a business model where players really are employees, caps on how much you can make per position regardless of what team you are on etc. I have said I feel that if the players win this thing, that is exactly what will happen. When that happens you are going to see Jones, snider etal sitting on the outside as they won't want to lose all the money they are making.

I have read good things about this Judge, I pray she is smart enough to see what the NFLPA has been pulling from day one and puts and end to it. If she doesn't then the NFL we love (as we love it) will be gone.

actually the last time the league decertified and they went to court, the players gained major concessions which lead to free agency which was significant win for the players. I don't have a clue which way this goes but a win by the players could lead to changes no one can foresee at this point. Not that I think it will happen but anytimes a court gets involved, it is really a crapshoot at that point.

The NFLPA doesn't want the NFL to negotiate with the Brady team. They are saying that simply to gain leverage in the labor relations board dispute brought by the NFL which says they are not negotiating in good faith. All of this is political manuvering not honest efforts to find a solution.

Wrong! If you buy that you don't understand real life and what the NFLPA wants. They don't want a cap, they don't want restrictions on moving teams at will etc.

fug the players and the NFLPA
