Predicting it all the way

Recommended Posts

After we pick Newton, load up on O-linemen and pick a DT, OLB, and DB

yep. Then sign a vet DT and a vet QB you think would work/mesh well with Cam. Smitty I think would hang around as well.

1. Patrick Peterson - CB LSU

65. Muhammad Wilkerson DT Temple (6’5'' 320 pounds)

97. Scott Tolzien QB Wisconsin

98. Carl Johnson OG Florida

132. Dwayne Harris WR (KR) East Carolina

166. Adam Grant OT Arizona

203. Richard Gordon TE Miami

244. Andrew Rich SS (FS) BYU

Would love to see if anyone else has predicted our 8 spots and filled out a full draft prediction on us. This is my attempt. I think I at least got the position order correct.

Wilkerson will be taken in the first round....count on it.

personally I feel most teams have:

Nick Fairley, Auburn

Marcell Dareus, Alabama

Corey Liuget*, Illinois

Stephen Paea, Oregon State

Drake Nevis, LSU

Phil Taylor, Baylor

Marvin Austin, North Carolina

ranked above Wilkerson, so there is a chance he falls to the first pick of the 3rd. At least that is what I am wishing for. Truthfully I will take almost any of the top 8 DT's if someone falls to that 3rd round. I figured Wilkerson was the most likely out of the group.

Colin Kaepernick QB, aside from the mental aspect, is the best qb in the draft. He needs help with reading defenses and tighten up his throwing motion, but he is an outstanding qb, especially in the 3rd round. Better than anyone the panthers have now. And would learn well under the tuteledge of Billy Volek.

Career back up, at most IMO.

Personally I feel we need to look past the top 5 QB picks and start looking for our hidden gem QB. There is not a QB in this draft worth the first round selection

Agree somewhat, not interested in a late rd QB, would rather develop what we have already in Moore, Clausen and Pike.

So u are satisfied with the way our secondary plays? Just wow. and their not taking him #1, their taking him #7

lol I'm pretty satisfied with the way our secondary plays. They've been pretty damn good for a few years now. Other than RBs, secondary is the most solid unit we have (maybe tied with LB). If Marshall leaves, we need 1 CB but it's still not a HUGE need. And he got tendered, will probably at least still be here this year. I don't think they're going to take a CB in the 1st round at all this year. It'd be like taking a DE. Sure they're nice to have, but they're not nearly as big a need on this team.

Diamond in the rough quarterbacks? Really? You realize that it is about as likely as actually going out to a gravel driveway and snatching up a diamond right?

Maybe we will even get a winning season every four years or so. That would be awesome.

So glad we are all embracing taking a new direction.

Pick a QB in the first or wait till next year. The last thing we need on our roster is another young late round QB.

p.s. Seriously is PP7 gonna score 3 TD's a game? Especially considering the new kick off rules.

Also please stop insisting we trade down. It isn't up to us. Unless there is some new rule that gives the team holding the number 1 pick the ability to force another team to take it. Even Hurney said no one is offering a trade (This is not a smokescreen; its exactly the opposite of how you would entice other teams to make a better offer). News flash there is no #1 worth trading for this year. No one wants the pick including us.

So you would have us basically waste the 1st pick of the draft on a QB who in other drafts wouldn't be a top 20 contender? You have to approach it as best player available. yes we have holes, but we also spent multiple draft picks last year on QBs. To draft a QB with the first pick in this draft is the equivelant of giving up on everything we worked to accomplish. If your thinking there is a game changing QB in this draft you are sadly mistaken. Hell if Clausen was available in this draft, he would be ranked above every other QB.

You have to take last season for what it was, a complete meltdown by a front office preparing for a lock out. The QB's were not ready, prepared, or properly utilized. We have 3 young QB's on the roster, lets see how they fit into a new system befor we waste the best pick in the draft on a 2nd round ability player. Peterson, Green, or Darius should be our pick. If we want to gamble on a QB, lets make it late where it will not completely devalue our draft picks.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
