no u dont take a chance at #1, You take the best player in the draft, thats what the #1 spot is for. Patrick Peterson is the best player in the draft. You take him #1 or trade down and then take him. But you dont leave draft day without the best player in the draft.

Sam Bradford wasn't the best player in the draft...rarely the number 1 pick is. The number one pick is for changing a franchises future. Good (Bradford), Bad (russel) or you could go the BPA route like Houston did and select a guy like Mario Williams and not change your franchise at all.

But as many said, this is probably one of the worst years to have the #1 overall pick. I favor trading back and at least picking up a first next year (although that in itself may be a bad idea depending on the next CBA). I'm just not sold on anyone at #1
