NFL Exec.: Cam Would Be Clear-Cut #1, If He Were White (And Other Valuable Nuggets)

This is 100% accurate his off the field stuff was 3 years ago based off his accolades/stats in college alone there is no way he shouldn't be the first QB taken and the clear cut best prospect with his upside/stats. When you consider the QB position is the most important position in the NFL today.

People will bring up The Golden Calf of Bristol but Cam is a more natural passer than The Golden Calf of Bristol coming out his passing has been very underrated by many because of his legs. When you have guys like Gabbert, Locker rated over someone that had a season like Cam did it points to racial bias.

Wow, who woulda thunk you would say that?

To deny there is a legitimate bias against black QBs in the NFL is to plead ignorance.

I dont doubt that bias exists in the fan base. It's a huge popluation and there are probably polygamists and people into beastiality too. There's likely bias in the media and the "draftnik" crowd. However, when it comes to the guys making the decisions I doubt they care one iota about race.

If we are just looking at college production on the field and upside why would Gabbert/Locker be rated over someone that had a season like Cam did? because of stuff that happened three years ago you really think so?

The black QB comparisons are not racial, they are generally statistical. I don't think any team cares whether a player is white, black, green, purple, male, female, etc as long as they produce. The same analogy came be said about white receivers or white running backs.

Well there could be the reason of

COLLEGE.

STATS.

DO.

NOT.

MATTER.

How about if he wasn't from the spread offense?? anyone? The Golden Calf of Bristol would have been the perfect QB if he wasn't from the spread offense, and he's white, Cam Newton is being considered for the #1 overall pick, it has nothing to do with race, honestly I think those that think it has to do with race themselves are the racist, because I don't see color when I look at a player I see whether or not he's going to help us or not, my issue with Cam isn't his athletic ability(I think that's great and he has a lot of up side) it's the fact that he comes from a spread offense, no one out side of Vick no one has ever had any real success in the NFL from the Spread and this seems to concern no one besides me?

The list of spread offense QB's that have been busts in the NFL is a mile long, and has happened far more often then not, do we really need to be taking a player from the spread?

those that say it's because of race I say GTFO and your probably the real racist.

Performance on the field in college is only one part of a prospect's profile, and not always the biggest part. Otherwise, The Golden Calf of Bristol would have been a top 5 pick last year.

Also, I did not hear you complaining when Demaryius Thomas was drafted ahead of Shipley. Talk about the gap in production.

Cam has far better throwing mechanics than The Golden Calf of Bristol the whole having to fix his throwing motion thing is what kept The Golden Calf of Bristol outta the top 5 imo.

As far as what they teams/scouts look at I would think stats and college film were two pieces of the puzzle when evaluating these prospects. Along with workouts, interviews, etc.
