It's more common than people think for mobile QBs to get sacked more often than pocket passers.

Given that there are many more pocket passers in the league than mobile quarterbacks the numbers can be skewed by one or two mobile quarterbacks getting alot of sacks. Plus you have guys like Brees and Manning who are pocket passers but are very mobile in the pocket and have very quick releases.

It goes both ways.

The three least sacked quarterbacks were Kerry Collins (8), Cutler (11) and Brees (13) ( 2 of the 3 were pocket passers)

The most sacked were Cassel (47), Roethlisberger (46), and Garrard (42) All three are considered pocket passers.

Cutler who rushed for 200 yards had 13 sacks while Campbell had 258 yards and 38 sacks.

Cassell had 270 yards and 47 sacks while Thigpen rushed for 386 and was sacked 26 times.

Rodgers rushed for 207 yards and was sacked 34 times while a guy like Bulger was a pocket passer who ran for 47 yards and was sacked 38 times.

Garcia rushed for 148 yards and 23 sacks while Fitzpatrick started only 11 games rushed for 304 yards and was sacked 38 times.

It appears that there is no clear pattern based on yards or degree of mobility but I think there is a pattern.

Most of the mobile guys mentioned here are young guys without a lot of experience. They will run quicker than guys who stay in the pocket and have learned to throw the ball away.

Many of the guys with lots of sacks played behind poor offensive lines and were often running for their lives.

Agreed. Team and quality of OL play a big role too.

I'm just speaking more to debunk the notion that guys who are mobile are less likely to take a sack. Roethlisberger, for example, runs around plenty. And anyone who thinks Vick was sacked less than average should think again.
