Blaine Gabbert's hush hush character issue: underage drinking, fighting

And yet everybody also cheated on tests at that age too. Doesn't stop from us hearing about how evil and dishonest Cam was for cheating on tests at age 18 everyday.

Yea, but I hope GM's and Coaches in the NFL have the common sense to know that. They deal with grown men so I'm pretty sure the look at players issues from their freshman year with an open mind. What would be the biggest concern is if he actually had to deal with the pay for play and lied to the FO. That's not even that big of a deal in the NFL. They're also concerned with who you put yourself around. Cam chose Team Newton (father, Warren Moon, Whitfield and stays in touch with Brett Favre) so that shows he's about football. Gabbert's really isn't that bad either, but the problem is that it wasn't that long ago. If he was defending his brother, to me, that's what he's supposed to do. The real question isnt what would Jesus do its What would Luck do?:Angel_anim:

I have accepted the fact Gabbert is nothing more than media hype used to counter Cam and his opportunity to be #1 QB in this draft.

I am afraid this could be right, but I would add a twist--Cam is a lot of hype created by the media himself. Don't forget, your getting your milk from the same cow here.

Is this another Brady Quinn/Demarcus Russell situation?

Fighting and underage drinking does not grab the same headlines as stealing computers, cheating in college, or being in the center of a "pay for play" scandal. Throw in the fact that Gabbert was not the Heisman winner and National Champion QB for the semi-professional Auburn Tigers, what do you expect?

If you want fair and equal treatment, be logical about it. Oh, and this just in: Gabbert once had three cavities at one checkup.

Difference is Cam produced on the college football field stats/wins I wouldn't call him a media darling or just hype created by the media.

Other than his first workout after the Bowl game, hyping up his ceiling & talking accolades from this past season most of the media is negative towards Cam to be honest. So with that he's hyped based on him putting in work last season and what people think he can be if HE puts in the work to become better...Gabbert on the other hand though IDK where the hype comes from...

fixed. I agree it really shouldn't make any headlines because he wasn't doing anything on the field to recieve national attention. I am suprised I had to find out on the huddle though. I'd expect atleast one 10 second mention now that he's being considered to go number one since QB's are so under the microscope and everything:rolleyes:

Mine was posted later that day with an update from a local reporter that's going to be more in touch with what's happening than a national reporter. Just like how Panther beat writers know more about what's really going on with the Panthers than, say, John Clayton.

I don't think you understand. I wasn't saying your story was wrong (not that yours paints some damning picture anyway, the authors commentary is much worse than the actual police report lol). I was providing some links to eye witness comments that sound like what I heard at the time.

Hello all,

You should check out this blog post on how Cam Newton's being covered by the USA Today. It points to a recent NFL Draft guide, and how USA Today reporter Jim Corbett patched together quotes and misinformation about Newton, then made Gabbert out to be a choir boy. But then Corbett compared Cam to black quaterbacks in 1999 (???), and did not mention that Donovan McNabb and Akili Smith were black, or explain why they were mentioned. Looks like "dog whistle racism."

I wanna trade down to the 5th and grab AJ Green or Peterson. Not big on Cam or Gabbert. But I find it shady that we all know Cam is a fake smiler, but a drunken fight in public at 1:30 am when you're underage goes unnoticed.

Hypocrites.

the fake smile thing was really strange to stick in there. I have no idea why the guy did that. Nobody has said anything close to that before that I have heard; arrogant, cocky, sure... obviously. He refers to himself in the third person. But the fake smile bit seemed to be going a bit far and makes me wonder who the heck he's talking to.

the funniest part of that blog post is that googling "USA Today NFL Draft Special Edition" comes up with that blog post, and not the actual piece. Can't seem to find it, maybe it's only in print. I wish I could see what was written.

Tell me what high school boy doesn't try alcohol?? And most real

competetive guys get in fights. Most do more then alcohol. All this

shows is that Gabbdert is competetive and was a normal guy.

Forget all that past stuff and focus on the facts: Gabbert is the

most NFL ready and will do more for us faster. I'd pass on Newton.

Wait, Gabbert is the most NFL ready QB in the draft? Well poo, lets snap him up in a heart beat. The last guy that was the most NFL ready QB in the draft seems to be having a great career.
