this is not a big deal but, if it was cam it would be the hot button for atleast a week. And i did read a report where gabbert threw some punches to so take it with a grain of salt. wonder how long before him and smitty come to blows....

Everybody says that if Cam doesn't do well in the pros, he could become another JaMarcus Russell in the bust thing. Probably a lot more and take the #1 NFL bust spot ahead of Russell and Ryan Leaf! All 32 teams are worrying about drafting people they think that can make it, in the league. But in the end, it backfires on them. Just ask the Raiders as they drafted Russell, which turned out to be a huge, huge mistake for them. As they wished now they never drafted him.

beats me. I don't see the season playing out at all the same.. but Gabbert is a confident dude. I actually think that is what Smith likes though, so we'll see.

^^^^agree with Teeray. Missing on one pick does not make your team worse. But it certainly doesn't make them better seeing as other players you could have picked become stars.

The Raiders have been abysmal for years. They missed on the pick, they stayed abysmal, and after going 8-8 they fired their coach and now have some pretty huge indecision at QB still, and are about to lose their best defensive player. If they had hit a home run on that #1 pick, they would probably have been in the playoffs by now if not better.

can you really say "they didn't really suffer much" if the shining moment you can point to is them missing the playoffs and going 8-8 after releasing a guy they took #1 overall?

Can't hurt you if it's something you've never had. With that said having a high draft pick is suppose to help you and missing certainly doesn't do that.

I cant believe I am saying this, but the Raiders are still probably better than either of those teams.
