bleys, your dad is awesome, enough said.

Saltman, I listened to that interview a couple days ago too. Stern will ask anything lol. It really does get annoying that all the interviewers are STILL asking questions about Nirvana over and over. Dave is probably used to it by now, but geez, the Foo Fighters are a better band (yeah I said it), they'll be remembered more by the end, and Dave was the best musician in the band (and I said that also).

I like how Dave was set for life before Foo even started, so you know he loves to make music (he's still making stupid bank though). I think he's worth over $200 million now. He doesn't act like it really.

Album is still really good. I hope it does well. If it hits a million, that's huge, with the technology now. I think they are smart though, they realize the money is in touring and selling out stadiums (really, it always has been, artists make little on the CDs themselves). You can't say they haven't promoted the album if it doesn't do well though. They have been on Letterman, Conan, Daily Show, SNL. They've played the whole album on their site from Studio 606, streamed it live on Letterman, etc. It makes you believe they truly are proud of their work, and aren't scared of letting you hear it all entirely (which is why people don't buy CD's now it seems, for 1-2 good songs). I'm sure this album will sell at least 500k (gold) in the US though, and a lot more in UK/Aus, where they sell more.

Good point - they're clearly not worried about the quality of this album and are letting everyone listen to it before buying. Most bands don't have that kind of confidence - I guess it comes with being as huge as the Foos are.

As for Grohl - yeah he's unbelievably cool. Perhaps behind the scenes he's an absolute muppet, but if so he hides it REALLY well. Everyone that comes across him walks away thinking "What a great guy." Really just does it for the joy of making music and performing I think.

I felt the quality of their output dropped a little a few albums ago, but it's definitely picked up. I don't think he's every going to touch 'The Color and the Shape' again though, that's an amazing album. Definitely a legendary band.

Yeah Colour was amazing. I'd put this album next too it though. I thought the last album was amazing too. I think they stalled a bit with "One by One" and "In Your Honor" but I liked both. "In Your Honor" was just something they wanted to do and just didn't care about what the labels wanted etc, since Dave owns the rights to all the Foo's albums and just licenses them out. Even though it wasn't super great, I liked it, and I thought it was a good move by them and they grew as a band. They've done a good job separating themselves from just being a post-grunge band or whatever.

Most people love Dave that's met him, fans, and also he's respected in the industry, almost like a legend. I remember he let Alice in Chains use his studio a few years back to make their new record. I guess Dave had the luxury of going into the Foo Fighters already rich so he could do whatever he wanted too. These guys sell out 85k stadiums and yet, they are doing garage shows for random people:
