Looking one year ahead: New 2012 NFL Mock Draft

FDN

That is exactly what we SHOULD do,popstpone gratification, it will

pay off big time. We WILL be drafting #1 again next year Newton or no Newton. So lets start building a solid foundation this year.

But you know us," fools rush in where wise men fear to tread".

These are the

kind of ignoramous statements

that I would love

to hold people accountable for saying....

I mean really. I could retire...

Alabama has 5 first rounders and Oklahoma has 3. That would be a great national championship game.

Ooh good point. I think Alabama's going to need a more experienced QB to run through the SEC though

I doubt we are in the top five picks of the draft next year. Our defense will be much better and we will bring in competition for Clausen.

.

What makes people so sure on this board that we are going to win next season?

2011 OPPONENTS

HOME AWAY

Atlanta Falcons (13-3) Atlanta Falcons (13-3)

New Orleans Saints (11-5) New Orleans Saints (11-5)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-6) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10-6)

Green Bay Packers (10-6) Chicago Bears (11-5)

Minnesota Vikings (6-10) Detroit Lions (6-10)

Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8) Houston Texans (6-10)

Tennessee Titans (6-10) Indianapolis Colts (10-6)

Washington Redskins (6-10) Arizona Cardinals (5-11)

Looking at that schedule, considering our roster, and looking at the state of the league and predicament they are in with the lock out, I'd be extremely happy if we were able to win 5 but realistically can see another 2 win season.

How will our defense be much better when the defensive players can't even know what defense we are going to run next season yet? They can't even talk to the coaches.

How are we going to bring in competition for Clausen when the draft is the only option? You think another rookie QB is going to do astronomically better then Clausen did last season and pull us out of the top 5 in next years draft? And when the lockout is finally over, who says we won't be outbid for any of the QBs that may or may not become available in the first place or if the QB would even want to come here? It's not like Carolina is considered a hot spot for a vet QB to come in and succeed this year. One proven WR who may or may not be losing a step (we can't even tell with the QB play we have enjoyed watching the last 2 seasons) with 3 WR with 1 year experience (not to mention the one 1 year experience QB has spent more time being a QB then a WR). The closest thing to a TE threat on the roster is Shockey. QB's would be dieing to come here. I didn't even mention the fact that not a single player on the offense knows what the playbook is yet.

And who the heck even says Rivera will be a good coach. I have yet to see him be a Head Coach as well as this coaching staff win a game yet.

With all the information we have, nothing screams we will be out of the top 5 picks next season unless Hurney trades away another future 1st round pick. I know there is talent on the team. But I'm also realistic in realizing everything is stacked against us to succeed next year.

Our team really was not as bad as our record this year... we were not the worst team in the NFL...And we will improve some next season IMO

I know our team really was not as bad as our record. I would agree we would improve some next season if it was a normal off-season. But with a new head coach going into a lockout year along with not having an established QB that can at least manage the game, it's hard to see any reason why we can expect a 6 win season this coming season. At what point are we becoming "homers' instead of "realistic"?
