A more thoughtful take on Moon, Cam, and Race

top dawg

Nowhere in this thread does it explain how somebody that is concerned about how Newton hamming it up for the cameras (Auburn Pro Day weigh ins, strutting like a peacock was cute when he was 12, not now @ 21) whenever they're around, selfishly trying to pad his own stats with a sneak at the end of the NCS despite Chizik calling for a kneel and Dyer's scamper, the laptop incident, and Cecil's involvement is a racist.

I am very well aware of his physical ability and potential, the arm strength, confidence (borderline narcissism to some), and apparent lack of talent at QB on our roster.

Some seriously want another rookie qb out there after what just happened, what makes everyone so positive that Newton is the answer? Is it the same feeling they had about Luck who was "100%" declaring for the draft?

Seems like a lot of eggs and not a lot of chickens that people are counting on.

If somebody were capable of easing my mind on the issues slated in the 1st paragraph then I would have absolutely zero issues with the team drafting Cam. Sorry, no skin guilt here either nor is there any awe in him as a person so one of you Cam guys are going to have to actually present a case where you're not implying something insulting about who you are trying to convince.

Again I don't see Narwocki's hate spewed rant on Cam as racially motivated. However you just can't deny with a straight face, that there is a stigma on being a high-profile Black Quarterback in this nation. You just fuging can't, unless you've had your head in the ground for the last century.

You just can't. Which is mainly what Warren Moon, was attacking. Then you have Mr.Scot outright stating that his 'opinion' is not of his own, and that several of his field agents/scouts/reporters generating the hate that he's preaching. The Dude insulted Cam from his head to his toes, and no he has never had such a negative campaign against a prospecting Quarterback like that. Ever.

So yes, the criticisms against Cam are motivated by something much more than "He's just not a 1st round QB" there are people who actually hate the guy for no apparent reason. And that's where race come into to play.

You name me a 1st round QB who's not named Cam Newton, that had to go through such rehashing bullsh*t then the debate should come to an end.

Warren's not stupid, angry, dumb, or blind. He knows of the hatred that Cam is getting. And quite frankly it's getting out of hand.

A "fake" smile? Get the f*ck outta here, people.

And yes, I am in favor of drafting Cam (Or any QB for that matter) but let's open our eyes and be subjective here.

How about The Golden Calf of Bristol last year? He got pretty much obliterated by the media and he wasn't even a consideration to be the top pick. Actually so did teh Jimmeh... this happens almost every year, just the fact that we hold the pick this year makes us more aware of it.

Do you feel the same about drafting Peterson, Quinn, Little, and Austin

Then when Hurney says it is bullpoo it makes it look even worse.

What is Hurney supposed to say? "Oh he's totally right, that kid is a disaster as far as background."

There is a big difference in Hurney's motivations and Nawriwhatever's. Not that I don't believe what Hurney says, but saying that you can't descredit his opinion because of what Marty said...

That's racial prejudiced. If you consider this, 5 guys who robbed the store. I'd pick the black one, is that racist? No, it's prejudice. Maybe 'racial prejudice? It's a negative connotation so it's deemed racist by people who just spew racist in the event of anything but the truth is connotation can be positive as well as negative and still be prejudiced, because it is already assuming a prejudice about someone, a certain race. Does negative connotation equate to hate? Not necessarily just like a positive on does not equate to love. The definition of racism is to hate another race, I don't think that qualifies.

My team would kick your ass though because I'd chose all the Mexican/Spanish kids.

Well, we all bring our baggage to the table. We are all full of poo to some degree. I just try to keep it real. Some stereotypes became stereotypes for a reason, but it is a stereotype after all, and there are no absolutes. No culture or ethnicity is monolithic. You can't paint every African-American, Irish-American, Mexican-American with a broad brush. But, if you have come up in America, you can't act like you don't bring some poo to the table. You just have to look at the reflection in the mirror, and then strive to do better if you really care.

Sometimes you can't take things too seriously though. I would think that we all know that every black man is not akin to Michael Jordan, and that every white man isn't akin to Jason Williams (White Chocolate). We all know that the NBA is predominately black, but that there are white guys who can kick all our asses.

No, no, no, no Tim's nor Jimmy's 'critiques' come close to what Cam's had to endure. Not even close.

Are you kidding me? Even on this board The Golden Calf of Bristol got a beating, especially for his Religious beliefs. The only difference between him and Cam is that he didn't have the background issues Cam does, and no one can deny that. QB's are huge celebrities now, and just like any celebrity people are gonna try to knock them down. It's up to that perticular QB to beat the criticism and prove the people wrong... We saw The Golden Calf of Bristol do that just fine, and I have no doubt that Cam will too.

He would say that we dint divulge private info that we find out about this stuff. Then he would have refrained from taking a pot shot at Narwocki.

Plus we wouldn't be even considering Newton if we thought this was true.

If I'm picking teams for a game of pickup basketball... and I know nothing about the people i'm picking... I'd pick the black guy over the white guy.

Does that mean i'm racist?

I just want to win...

Actually it works that way in the NFl. A study I reported here a few weeks back relating to race and success in the NFl actually said that black atletes have a higher success rate than white ones regarding length of career and number of pro bowls, for example, among a number of factors. In all fairness it didn't break things out by position but as the NFl as a whole.

I can see how these numbers would work, since the NFL is a significantly higher percentage of blacks then whites.

Yeah. Go figure! Some actually act like they don't know the history of our FO. If Cam was as screwed up as Nawrocki is making him out to be, then our guys wouldn't even be genuinely considering him. But, I guess many in The Huddle have bumped their heads.

BTW, you seem to be a cool dude, Tee.
