You know what I am tired of?

Almost every article I see has Cam Newton tagged as a "once in a lifetime athlete" or "once in a decade athlete" whatever.

I have heard this about a couple other guys in the past

Vince Young FA

Jamarcus Russell (not athlete but qb) Out of the league

Pat White Out of the league

The Golden Calf of Bristol solid qb

Ben Rapeandeatmoreburgers solid qb

Troy Smith FA

Tavaris Jackson FA

Michael Vick franchise qb

Alex Smith FA

Now the thing is, I am not saying these "once in a lifetime" athletes cannot be successful (they can...very rarely) but using that term every freaking year is getting annoying. Cam is not a once in a lifetime athlete, their are 3 better athletes in the draft alone. Stop using it as intangible. Jeeze.

Well, when Andrew Luck was talked about as the second coming of Peyton Manning, did you buy that hype? I can almost guarantee that this whole Newton thing would've been moot had Luck declared for the draft. That's why I don't buy the hype and never will. Newton is a product of needing someone to take the place of Luck in this draft as the "once in a lifetime" prospect.
