Got XP at work and they keep telling us we are going to Vista but haven't done it yet. Have Vista at home and have no problem downloading porn.

What distro of Ubuntu do you run?

10.04. Haven't installed it yet, but need to for some work software. Think there's a newer version but that build gets cranky with a few programs I need.

Crap. This thread prompted me to check out any new news on Win 7 and I just read that the release is January 2010. I thought for sure they said this fall not too long ago. I've got 3 company computers on XP that really need replacing and I am not sure they will make it.

Dell still sells them with the Vista "downgrade" to XP... which is how we still buy them.

The best thing MS could do is create a "no bullsh*t" os for people like me. I don't care about all the bells and whistles, all the desktop and taskbar gimmicks.

Just give me a simple fast efficient OS that will run third party applications reliably.

Or I could just get a mac.
