Braves thread

Not trying to justify his miscall but I can see why he called it that way. In one angle it looks like he swiped and potentially missed. Watching it live I thought he was out and was shocked as anyone to see the safe call but i guess from his angle at full speed he saw a miss.

The dude was bad all game with his low strike zone. There's a reason McClouth and Fredi were ejected.

I support the ump. The guy was not tagged. There was one front shot angle of it, but even then it wasn't definitive. Good call by the ump. The catcher should've done a better job of tagging him. I don't understand why everyone is up in arms over it.

Braves are really struggling as of late to score with runners in scoring position. We are getting people on but not getting them in. Also a lot of these missed scoring opportunities are coming with less than 2 outs. AGon is really a rally killer. Hopefully he can get over his slump.

Oh yeah, AGon swings at everything and is a double play waiting to happen. I'm hoping that the Braves will look to upgrade SS next year. His defense is not good enough for his horrible offense.

But atleast they are starting to hit, and Dan Uggla pushing his streak to over 20 games has been well overdo.

One thing that's been killing us of lately is the bunt, I think they have been doing too much of it only to shoot themselves in the foot. Hopefully with a guy like Bourn, we wont need to bunt him over and I'd like to see Heyward get some more chances to take a base.

Braves are raking tonight. What a crazy set of events. Braves have hit 5 homeruns off the Big Z; Uggla (2), Jones, Constanza, and Freeman.

With Zambrano still in he throws a fast ball inside to Chipper and didn't think anything of it. Then the very next pitch was another fastball inside and he was immediately ejected. Some Braves came out of the dugout. So he basically took himself out of the game. He is such a headcase.

The Cubs are the only club stupid enough to keep Zambrano on a roster, he doesn't belong in the game of baseball. A terrible team mate and person, an all around piece of trash and to go after a guy like Chipper should have resulted in his ass getting kicked.

It's not even like the Braves pulled a Robinson Cano and admired the shots, it was straight around the bases. It'll be interesting watching Braves pitching the rest of the game.

Update

The Braves have apparently retired Carlos Zambrano, he cleaned out his locker after being ejected and said he was retiring. What a team guy.

Probably has something to do with Heyward being 3/18 (.167) In August and 6k's (.218 on the year) for a guys thats 11/25 (.440) with 3 extra base hits in the series. I am as big of a Heyward fan there is but he has a lot to work on and until he steps up in the box and gets under the ball, he's a groundout/strike out waiting to happen.

Sorry way to end the game today, a rare letdown by Eric O' and the rusty Linebrink, the Braves have had a habit of getting into a funk when they lose one, so they need to snap out of it quick. Hanson to the DL doesn't help either, leaving a rotation of Hudson, Beachy, Minor, Lowe and a call up right now.

On a side note, congrats to Dan Uggla on his 33 game hitting streak and giving Braves fans what they expected of him all along. A guy that was hitting .170 about a month ago has flown by the likes of Gonzalez and Heyward and is on pace to have a good season after all that. .377 during the streak, 49-for-130 with 15 homers and 32 RBIs. Heres to the next one.

So Lowe may be starting to get some of that end of the season magic back, he's at least been pitching better.

Big night last night milestone wise, Lowe hits his first HR, just shy of Chippers 450th, and Kimbrel sets the rookie saves record.

Braves also got Matt Diaz back and that should help a lot with depth off the bench.
