Panthers draft strategy may be very different...

umm ok why trade Steve Smith just to draft another WR? kind of a waste of a draft pick imo.

Because Steve Smith is 32, and we are going to need playmakers on this offense that will be around awhile. Plus if we can get value out of a receiver with a year or two left by trading him, we should pull the trigger. See the Patriots.

We were looking at multiple candidates and might still be based on where we project ourselves in the draft if we try to trade down. I don't know of course but I get the notion that if we stay at 1, we have narrowed it down to 2 or 3 players.

As for the GM being the same, I have read a couple of articles which say that in the early days Fox made the majority of the decisions. Really last year was the first year that Hurney picked mostly everybody. And I suspect he will do it again. If Fox were here we would be going defense in the first most likely a DT or DE. We would not be looking at a corner, wide receiver and surely not a QB. So the comparisons to even 3 years ago don't apply anymore in my opinion,.

I don't know who had the ultimate say so in any of the drafts, with the exception of last year.

However, one thing has remained the same and I think will continue to is they (whoever pulls the trigger) doesn't gamble with character concerns, not in the early rounds anyway.
