Racism Quiz

Guys there is no racism towards black QBs in any way, shape or form. JOAT has already explained this. Racism is over. We should all go outside and celebrate this glorious time. All of the criticisms about Cam would be equally applied to a white dude. STOP SENSATIONALIZING THINGS!!!!

The problem with your argument is that he personally attacked cam Newton as a man and not as a football player. Nawrocki sounded as if he has a personal vendetta against Cam Newton. His draft preview of CN was not way out of line. If Nawrocki believes these things, as a writer, he could have presented them in a better way that was much less personally motivated rants.

Nowrocki sounds as if maybe he was bullied by a guy in high school who reminds him of Cam and this is his way of revenge. To personally attack rather than write a constructive article that outlined the potential negative attributes Cam may possess.

Like I've said to others, if you think this is new, you've never read Nawrocki before. Look up his review of Clausen. It's pretty rough.

Add in that he himself has said his info has been gathered from scouts and personnel people, so it's not like it's his personal attack. It's what he's heard people saying.

fortunately for Mallet his allegations aren't serious to gain national media attention all day everyday. The world is concerned with the war on stolen laptops and test cheating not drugs:rolleyes: McGay and Kiper still think he's a top QB and should in the 1st. No reports about him being a con artist so no need to defend him.

i believe that some of the reason that they are not hammering Mallett more is that he is not beign considered for a Top 3 pick. Those at the top always get more of the scrutiny.

From the article...

But I'm sure he didn't mean for that to be directed at Nolan Nawrocki

Still inferring. I've already read it. And again, I've heard on various sports shows people questioning Cam's authenticity as a person and as a leader. And just as I mentioned in the other thread, here's a few of the quality pieces from pundits put out there recently regarding Cam:

  • the issue with Peter King's article - scratch that - TWEET, that he took out of context

  • the reports of the radio guy having tapes of Cam's dad and himself on the phone bargaining the price they'd take to play college ball

  • the reports of Cam partying in Miami

  • the need for real sports to come out with a report featuring exclusively Auburn players a week or so before the draft talking about how they took money to play - even though that report also features Ohio St. being accused of offering up college girls for sex to get players to go there... And this with Tressel, Pryor, and the others being suspended to start the season for recent scandal. Yet, the focus is still on Auburn.

  • And as a sidenote, last time I checked, most media are supposed to at least give the allusion that they are neutral and objective... So, if Moon WAS referring to Nawrocki, I can see how he would take issue. There's a difference between saying a guy has a checkered past, questionable decision making, has some character concerns versus calling him "fake" "phony" and a "conartist" or whatever else was said. That's pretty incendiary and unnecessary.

Moon used a couple words that were in Nawrocki's article and you're assuming he's the only one he was talking about? When you look at the amount of stuff being reported on Cam vs the other guys, and the content, if you were Moon, you wouldn't suspect any ulterior motives behind it?

Look at the Patrick Peterson story that just came out. Sure, it just came out like yesterday, but SC did like a 30 second story on it and went on with highlights - no biggie. PP is a possible #1 pick, so why not hammer away at him? Why not report on where he's partying at or hanging out at? Why not dig up more on LSU, as they were featured in the Real Sports piece as a school that paid players as well...

For several reasons, and if you were Warren Moon, you have the right to believe that some of these reports are because Cam is a QB and he is black. Not saying that is the reason, because some people may not like his personality or whatever, but to be offended because Moon questions this is ludicrous.

that's what I'm saying along with a few others. Not everyone picking at Cam is racist, but we can tell there is a some. That's all I want people to realize. I'm kind of skeptical as how he will handle being the pick, but I personally feel his past issues aren't alarming enough for me to pass on his potential. The guys that slam Newton with no valid reason with insults and stereotypes are the ones that are being considered racially motivated. For some posters to feel the need to defend them so hard without trying to look at it from the other side are the others I question. I'd defend a white person just as hard if the shoe was on the other foot.

Mallett?

Mallett has been questioned and ridiculed to a degree for his off-field concerns (the Combine Q&A deal), but we, as an audience of the media, are not getting hit in the head repeatedly with where he's at, what he's doing, why he's doing it or any other stories detailing what happened that made him have to answer all these questions. The reason I think people keep jumping to defend Cam is because stories keep coming up about him for pointless reasons (the radio guy, Real Sports piece, etc.) re-hashing the same stuff we already know. It's like a smear campaign. Mallett isn't dealing with that amount of coverage.

But just because this random dude isn't racist doesn't mean that a ton of posters on this forum and a ton of people that call in to local sports talk radio shows aren't either.

Exactly.

Basically the kid can no longer do right in the media's eyes. You know damn well if he had the same cocaine allegations it would be much worse, just admit that at least.

That's your racial bias showing through. You think because he's black he'll be a victim and unfairly criticized. How can I "know damn well" that something that hasn't happened would be treated any differently than it is being treated right now?

You've just shown your true feelings. You only see them as black and white. You don't see them as football players or investments. You don't see that a $50mil investment will be scrutinized more heavily than a $10mil investment.

I honestly can say I'm thankful I don't see the world the way you do and I'm grateful I don't have the same attitude you do or my life would be miserable.

Like I've said to others, if you think this is new, you've never read Nawrocki before. Look up his review of Clausen. It's pretty rough.

He was also rough on Bomar
