Patrick Peterson - Pay for Play

These are million dollar investments.

You'd be ignorant to think this DOESN'T make people rethink or consider this.

NFL organizations know the absurd number of athletes that recieve money and other forms of payment in college. They know it is something they deny. It is very common despite ESPN acting like they are breaking new ground....

you can go through the Panthers #1 draft picks and if you could look behind the curtain.....there would probably be a handful that were paid to a degree in college.

So because he is loyal to LSU and doesn't want to get them in trouble, that means he has bad character? And don't tell me that these interviews are 100% private and confidential, because there are things leaked out all the time that happen in those interviews, not to mention the wonderlic scores and drug test failures.

Believe me, these GM's and coaches may talk a lot about character, but at the end of the day they just want to win football games so they can keep getting paid. This is nothing.

His relationship to LSU has nothing to do with it. If he knowingly took money, and lied about it, that's a legitimate character concern.

Again, how seriously the team takes that? Unknown. If they pick him number one, you'd have to say "not very".

But even if they don't pick him, it won't necessarily have anything to do with this story.

I'm sure of it, but would it have told us something more about Stanley McGlover to where we wouldn't have drafted him? Don't know...hard to say. I'm just saying that if you know the interview process these guys go through and the scrutiny to the nth degree they go through, to immediately dismiss newly found pay-to-play because it's nothing and a lot of people do it...is just ignorance. NFL scouts want to know EVERYTHING.

You don't think the question... "is there information that you've left out that would put your history in a bad light?"

What player would answer "Yes" right? There may have even been direct interview questions about "pay to play" in college. If he outright lied...then he'll be judged accordingly. I'm just pointing out that because WE, YOU, Joe Public thinks it might be a little or big deal doesn't mean people that fork out millions into these people as investments think otherwise.

I guarantee you that Peterson's stock won't be affected by this one little bit. I doubt he will go #1 to the Panthers, but I didn't expect that to happen before this report came out either. If he's a top 5 talent, he will be a top 5 pick, period.

And BTW, Tyke Tolbert, the Panthers WR coach, used to coach at LSU. Do any of you really believe the he doesn't know what's going on in big time college football recruiting? Do you really believe that any of these coaches don't know this is going on all over the place? Hell, half of them were probably involved in a pay for play scheme sometime during their careers.

All my friends that have went on to play sports in D1 have made allusions to receiving benefits if not outright saying they got some. On top of that, if you watch any of the 30 for 30s ESPN did that have anything to do with college players, everyone of them also alluded to receiving benefits of some sort (cars, cash, etc.).

So riddle me this...

If Cam had a pay for play involvement; everyone automatically crucify's him. However, if Peterson had a pay for play involvement he is still considered the savior.

It sounds like we have some fickle people that lack common morals posting on this board.

Peterson's been my top choice in the past, but if this has legs you'll see me throw my support to Dareus.

I do not see why pay for play is such a big deal for anyone. Its been going on for decades, and will continue for decades. I don't think most teams see it as a red flag, and I wouldn't be all that surprised if they don't ask the potential picks about it. It's like fight club, you don't talk about fight club.

Now just because it happens all the time doesn't make it right, but i fail to really see the wrong of it also.

It's probably one of those things that, in and of itself, might not get you in big trouble.

But lying about it will

not sure if the Panthers heard the rumors about Peppers when he was coming out. I used to hear alot about the UNc players getting paid and watching Joe Forte and Peppers rocking platinum chains and pushing range rovers down franklin street. I don't think it affects players unless theyre asked and lie about it.

I remember seeing Mario Williams rockin' a Lambo around Raleigh his junior year.
