Steve Smith...

If he can rattle off 3-4 more 1000 yd seasons he is a shoe-in. Personally, I think he can do it.

He already has the Triple Crown.

I agree here. He'll have to maintain several seasons of 1,000+ yards or at least high TD totals (definitely double digit TD's if he isn't hitting 1000 yard consistently).

He has the skills to be a Hall of Famer, that's for sure. It really depends on how well Delhomme does in the next two years or so and if the Panthers decide to move on to another QB down the line (and how that QB develops.)

Plus, what is to say that Smitty doesn't get fed up with the team? He's pretty attached to NC, but other "dedicated" players in NFL history have jumped ship from their team.

What do you guys think of Smitty headin to our Panthers Hall of Honor? Possible?

I think so. He's without a doubt the best and most talented(save Carter) WR we have ever had. No more fights or incidents and he should get in.

Talent-wise he is HOF material but his stats probably won't be gaudy enough to get him in. It would help a lot if he could get a Super Bowl win or two on his resume.

A lot of it is simply based on fortune. Look at Terry Bradshaw. If he hadn't ended up on the Steelers dynasty team, I doubt he would be in the HOF. There are a lot of great players that just don't get the right breaks to get the recognition they deserve.

For what it's worth, he will most definitely be in the Panthers Hall of Honor. Well, unless he beats someone else up before retiring.

I think he will most definitely get in considering you have coaches and more importantly writers who called him the most feared receiver in the game. He plays every single game like it is his last, and he has done all this in a run first offense, year after year. I think he has at least 4 more 1000 yd seasons left in him. He just needs to stop having to jump up to catch the ball at the 1 and he'd be up there in TD's as well.
