More Fun Cam Newton Stuff

How many defenses drop back 10 yards then when the QB starts to run, don't come forward after him but rather wait until he reaches the 10 yard mark before the attempt to tackle?

Maybe you don't understand the meaning of the defense sitting back and making Cam make reads?

Maybe you are confusing sitting back (not blitzing, dropping 7 guys into coverage) and dropping back 20 yards without paying attention to what's going on in front of them?

I guess if being correct is ridiculous, I stand as charged. :dita:

You seem to think that wanting to go in a different way than quarterback makes someone "Anti Cam." Or that being realistic that nobody is perfect makes someone "Anti Cam." I've got no problem with Cam Newton, I just don't think this is the situation for him.

Nevermind what I have repeatedly said; you're a motherfuging mind reader and know what I'm thinking. Yeah, right.

Let me spell it out for you: I don't want a QB in this draft.

I am not impressed by Newton's stats when it comes to projecting a quarterback but I was impressed with him as a college quarterback. He was exciting and fun to watch. I understand why people are enamored with his measurables, why they are in love with his numbers and if he works at it, he may also make a great NFL QB... But he's got a lot to work on and I think his success, like Gabbert's, will depend entirely on where he ends up. We have more holes than just QB and frankly I feel there are non-QB prospects that are simply better than the QBs this year. I just don't know that this situation is right for bringing in a quarterback.

I've given him plenty of credit.

You guys fail to even acknowledge that he has issues that can be covered up with easy throws. Stats from the championship game don't lie. When you find another breakdown like what I did, we can discuss again.

If you want to bitch about it, do your own.

I'm sure some games are different but you guys completely discount the effect those simple throws have on his overall numbers and you can't discount them anymore.

We're not the one's who are discounting things. Everybody here has aknowledged that Cam Newton has work to do and is not a finished product. In fact, I just said that in this very thread.

Pretty much.

SO now that we have debated ad nauseum about Newton's pros and cons, now we will debate who is more negative or logical. the haters or huggers.

Truth is that neither side is neutral. logical. unbiased or fact based. The information is out there and people gravitate toward the pro Newton or anti Newton side depending on what they already believe not based on the information. Some folks actually delude themselves that they are factually based and totally objective but honestly that isn't totally true. It is clear that some folks tend to be more objective and less subjective than others but to assume they are actually unbiased or totally objective is against the whole notion of being human. It is human nature to skew our information to fit our preconceptions and long held notions. Understanding that and accepting that is the first part toward being more objective.

I don't think it's delusion. I think it's perfectly possible to be objective about it.

I think the perception of "hate" comes at least somewhat from the fact that some people on either side of the debate are...well...pricks

(and in many cases, proud of that fact)

While I understand the point you are trying to make, I disagree that it is all that hard to have objective opinions to the level that are necessary to engage in football discussions on a forum like this.

We all may have some biases but it's also extremely easy to dismiss those who disagree with you as having bias when you can't reconcile that reasonable people can just disagree.

Not with a LB and a corner or safety over the top, which is what zones are.

Cam struggled throwing the ball into those windows and he's going to have to work on that big time.

You can't use running to compensate for a fundamental necessity of playing QB in the NFL.
