Has Carson Palmer been accused of rape recently?

For the record, I called Palmer "overrated" for years, and still think he is, but so is Roethlisberger. Two of his three Super Bowl performances were awful, his team carried him to victory in one of the wins and he did "just enough" in the other.

He's looked better than he actually is because he's hard to bring down. As a passer though, he's not that great. I don't consider him a "franchise quarterback" (and didn't even before the rape allegations came out).

Given the factors - especially that his QB coach is Ken Zampese, son of Norv Turner's mentor - Palmer is the best option available in a year in which, as I've said many times, it's a lousy time to need a quarterback.

Big Ben is 70-29. I don't care about pretty QB play I care about winning. Dude wins. Ignore the off the field stuff for a moment....you would be against a QB that doesn't fit the traditional mold but wins?

He may not be 70-29 outside of Pitt but I think he still would be a winner. You don't win that many games over the years b/c of D. Ben has always had that unexplained magic that Delhomme had before he blew his elbow out.

Just so we all understand that, not all character issues are the same. You, for instance, seem to be bothered just as much by Cam's off the field stuff as you are by Big Ben's problems, which are not even close to being on the same level.

I've barely discussed Newton's off-field issues at all. I acknowledge that they're a valid concern, but said clearly in one place that I didn't even need to go that far. I have reasons not to take him without even getting into the off-field discussion.

For that matter, here's a post where I give a full rundown as to why I don't want any quarterback this year (link). If there's a mention of off-field issues in the entire post, by all means, show it to me. It's just not my thing.

Now, if you think you can prove otherwise, feel free to go back and try to dig up a load of posts where I talk about Newton's off-the-field issues. But here's a tip: You won't find them. The few times I have even broached the topic it's been in response to someone else.

Bottom Line: What this tells me clearly is that you're just seeing what you want to see in my posts rather than actually reading them.

I bet my money on The Golden Calf of Bristol more than Cam... After all, he fits the same description minus character issues... The undying love for Cam is ridiculous on this board... He is a terrible pro-prospect and should be no where touched in the first round. His mechanics suck, he's inaccurate, he has no idea how to run a pro offense, he has character concerns, and he only played one year in college.

I'm just going by your overall tone when it comes to Cam Newton. You have argued against him so often and so passionately that I get the feeling you hate him, even if you don't or won't come out and say it. If you don't hate him, then why not just let it go and see what happens?
